Epic Games is known for releasing many Fortnite map changes. Over the past six years, the in-game map has gone through drastic changes. Not only have there been five different islands with distinct features, but each of them has received massive modifications.
Chapter 5 has been out for around two months, and Epic has already made some changes to its island. The biggest change so far was the removal of the snow in some areas, which was replaced by a dark forest biome. However, the Fortnite developer made another map change after that, yet almost no one noticed.
Latest Fortnite map change may have something to do with a live event
With the v28.10 update, Epic Games made the first big change to the Fortnite island. While almost everyone noticed that the show was gone from the northern part of the map, a lot of players haven’t noticed a secret change on the eastern side of it. To be more specific, the glaciers around Grand Glacier have begun to melt.
The crashed airplane was in the hills south of the hotel in this area, yet it slid down the hill. Tabor Hill, a popular YouTuber, created a great video on this. The content creator showed the difference between the glacier before and after the update.
While this could be just another small map change, it could also have something to do with a live event or Season 2. According to reputable leakers, the next Fortnite season will be introduced by a couple of big map changes. In addition to the glacier melting, Epic will likely release another earthquake event in the next few weeks. Furthermore, we could get another flood if the snow completely melts.
With the v28.20 update around the corner, we will likely get even more changes to the Fortnite map. This will be the second major update of the season and will bring big things, from new cosmetics to island changes.
