Tonight’s PlayStation State of Play broadcast has confirmed a brand new Sonic Generations game is on the way that’ll also star Shadow the Hedgehog.
It’s entitled Shadow X Sonic Generations – a slight twist on the previous rumour of a straight remaster, with “a brand new story campaign” featuring Shadow the Hedgehog. Here’s the blurb: “When Shadow’s old nemesis, Black Doom, reemerges and threatens to take over the world, Shadow must journey into his own past, confront painful memories, face familiar foes, and unlock new powers to save the world and prove why he’s known as the Ultimate Life Form!”
However, Sonic X Shadow Generations will also include a newly remastered version of Sonic Generations as well, offering the best of both worlds. There’ll also, we’re promised, be plenty of bonus content to go with the upgraded visuals. We also know that the game will be out later this year, but we didn’t get any more specific than Autumn of 2024. Check out the trailer here.
Though it was shown in the PS State of Play, a later update from Sega confirmed it will indeed launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch as well as PC via Steam and the Epic Game Store. Expect more on the game in the coming months.
