There’s lots of news about the increasing costs of housing, groceries, gas, hydro, heating, etc., but very little about how seniors, particularly those who live alone, are managing.

I retired from a private-sector company 23 years ago. I have not had an increase to my pension since I retired after nearly 29 years of service — not even cost of living. Everything has gone up, year after year, except for my pension, so it gets more and more difficult to figure out what I will have to give up to balance my income and outgoing expenses.

It isn’t how I saw my retirement years and I’m sure I’m not alone.

In a virtue-signalling move, the Jagmeet Singh-Justin Trudeau coalition sent party members to the West Bank not to meet with Israel, but Palestinians. This no doubt this will be followed by wanting to taking in thousands of Palestinians. As there is no way to properly security screen such refugees during this war, Canada is considering doing something that Egypt and Jordan refuse to do. It is a risk they are unwilling to take.

I’ve never been a big fan of “polls” as it’s too easy to get the results you want simply by how the question is phrased, and demographics play a huge role. Age, sex, religion, location and political affiliation are major factors. To get true results, those being polled need to understand the full scope of the issue.

Those who aren’t into politics don’t pay attention to politics so the question I have is what don’t they like about Donald Trump? Is he bombastic? Yes he is. Is he full of himself? Yes he is, but some of those boasts are justified. Justin Trudeau is full of himself, self-centred with delusions of grandeur, but the media ignores his “shortcomings.”

Is it the fact that there were no wars during the Trump years? That inflation was very low with more people working and able to own a home and put food on the table? Was it the fact that he wanted to control immigration and have secure borders to keep Americans safe? The U.S. was in a better place fiscally as were Americans.
