Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian Entertainment has finally revealed the Avowed release date as part of their segment during the January 2024 Xbox Developer Direct showcase. In addition to revealing a tentative launch window for their magical first-person RPG, the extensive exhibit also gave viewers a quick look at the button-mashing combat and choice-filled storyline players will be treated to once they jump into the world of Eora.
Of course, this wasn’t the only juicy tidbit Xbox revealed during the live stream, as the developers also revealed the Hellblade 2 release date and the Indiana Jones release date during it. However, if Avowed is the Xbox-exclusive game you’re waiting for the most, keep reading to find out when you can expect it to drop.
When is the Avowed release date?
The Avowed release date will take place in Fall 2024. Unfortunately, Obsidian Entertainment has yet to reveal when its specific launch will be, though you may not have to wait too long since the game will be releasing in a handful of months. It’s worth noting that since this is an Xbox-exclusive game, you can only play it on current-gen Microsoft gaming consoles, including the Xbox Series X|S and PC via Game Pass.

Avowed gameplay
As shown during Obsidian Entertainment’s Xbox Developer Direct segment, Avowed will feature excitingly unique gameplay that lets players choose from various medieval and magical weapons. Those who prefer spellcasting to old-fashioned, sword-swinging action can equip their character with dual wands, which they can use to cast a steady stream of enemy-blasting spells. But if you prefer letting your enemies feel the power of steel, you can also opt for the typical swords and blades present within.
Another refreshing facet of Avowed that differentiates it from most modern RPGs is its first-person combat that puts you directly in your character’s shoes. This feature also lets you see the game’s gruesome enemies up close and personal, giving it even more of an immersive feel than most fantasy projects.
