Fortnite has had a couple of fantastic months to conclude 2023. Thanks to the release of the OG Season, Epic Games drastically increased the popularity of the battle royale game. However, the game developer didn’t stop there. Chapter 5 came out right after the OG Season, bringing a lot of new content and several new game modes.

All of this content contributed to Fortnite’s rise in popularity. Epic claimed the top spot for a share of monthly active users (MAU) on a console in December 2023, with Fortnite having more playtime than a couple of its competitors combined.

According to a recent report by Ampere Analysis, Fortnite increased its total playtime by 146% during the OG Season. Not only has this number persisted throughout the first month of Chapter 5, but it also increased by a further 9%. Due to this, it’s no surprise that console gamers spent more time in Fortnite than in Grand Theft Auto V, Roblox, Call of Duty HQ, and FC 24 combined! In total, Fortnite players spent more than 1.6 billion hours playing the game.

Epic Games released several amazing game modes in December 2023, including LEGO Fortnite. Thanks to this, the video game reached a peak of 7.6 million concurrent players, breaking the record from the OG Season.

Fortnite’s player count is still consistent in the second month of Chapter 5 – Season 1. However, it may drop off in the coming weeks. Fortunately, Epic Games has a great plan to make the game even more popular. Not only will LEGO Fortnite keep receiving new content, but the game will receive another open-world mode in the future.

The icing on the cake will be the return of the OG Fortnite in 2024. Considering how popular the Chapter 1 map is in the community, it won’t be a surprise if the player count skyrockets once again. However, the release date of the new OG Season hasn’t been revealed yet, although it’ll likely arrive in late 2024.
