Today, during the Tekken World Tour 2023 global finals, Bandai Namco announced the first DLC character for Tekken 8.
Players will get the chance to play returning character Eddy Gordo when he launches in the spring of 2024.
We also get a roadmap for the first season of the game, which will span four character DLCs.
Following Eddy Gordo, we’ll have one more new or returning character per quarter, one in the summer, one in the fall, and one in the winter.
It’s funny that it’s called Season 1 considering that it’s actually four seasons, but I digress.
We actually don’t yet get to see much of Eddy, as the trailer focuses mostly on the opening cutscene showcasing the whole cast, and Eddy only gets to the very end by showing some of his Capoeira animations.
You can watch the trailer below and catch a glimpse of the game’s story alongside an extensive look at its characters.
As a bonus, we also get another trailer showing off the gameplay of Zafina.
This is not a new announcement as her presence in the game was revealed in October, but this time we get to take a look in-depth look at her gameplay in the new game.
Tekken 8 is coming for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on January 26. We’re less than two weeks before players can sink their teeth in this new fighting game, which appears to be very meaty.
If you’re not familiar with Tekken 8 and want to learn more, you can read our latest dedicated preview and an interview with the developers sharing quite a lot of interesting details.
Since this is the eighth mainline game of the series, you can also watch an interesting (and fairly entertaining) video in which Succession star Brian Cox recaps the story so far.
