5 Things That Will Make Or Break A Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Sequel
Insomniac’s recent installment in the series has opened the door for a third title, with much that can be elevated.
While the focus for developers and fans is currently on the upcoming PS5 exclusive Marvel’s Wolverine, the ending of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 introduces more mysteries, leaving room for DLC and future plot points for Miles Morales in particular. As Peter and Mary Jane plan to spend more time with one another after the chaotic events throughout the game, the question remains regarding what this will mean for Miles in the next entry.
Warning: Spoiler alert for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
1 Taking Up The Mantle
Peter’s Break Means Miles Will Have To Step Up
With the ending of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 putting Miles in the front seat as Insomniac’s main Spider-Man, the expectation of this becoming a reality in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 grows. From the encounters with Venom and other foes throughout the story, it was clear to all that Miles is now more than capable of standing as New York’s Spider-Man if this wasn’t already clear during the standalone game.
As Peter Parker plans to settle with Mary Jane after all the chaos and life-threatening events due to Venom being unleashed, fans should expect to see Insomniac’s next entry in the series to maintain a greater focus on Miles than ever before. It does not completely omit Peter from the main story, but it will give Miles the long-awaited attention fans have been craving while introducing new characters for him to work with.
2 Becoming A Mentor
Silk Is Hinted At During The Game’s Post Credits Scene
Just as players have witnessed Miles go from a young fan of Peter as Spider-Man in Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) to becoming Spider-Man himself under Peter’s wing, the same looks to be set in stone for Marvel’s Spider-Man 3. While Miles is still a young man at the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the introduction of Cindy Moon, who fans know as Silk, has opened the door for Miles to become a mentor.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: 5 Reasons Why Miles Becoming The Main Focus Makes Sense
Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 holds a bright future for Miles Morales as the main Spider-Man.
Seeing as Miles is now well-versed and experienced to a good degree as Spider-Man, there is no doubt that Insomniac’s end credits scene was intended to tease Silk becoming an apprentice under Miles’ wing, just as he once was under Peter’s. This will make for an interesting storyline, to say the least, as fans will be able to see how far the character has come since the 2023 title.
3 Adulthood
Nadji Jeter Could Have A Chance To Play An Older Miles
Adhering to the aforementioned prospect of the character becoming a mentor, this would more than likely involve Miles’ entry into adulthood. Only 17 years of age in this game, many fans would expect Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 to take it a step further and flesh the character out much more besides college activities.
Just as Peter did in the early phase of his adulthood to the current veteran he is in Insomniac’s universe, Miles will very likely experience the same struggles. The theme of balancing a normal life while being a hero has been prevalent across all the games, and it will very likely continue to be so in the next game. This will allow fans to finally see an older version of Miles that has been rare in both comics and other adaptations.
4 Potential Spider-Verse Interactions
Miguel Is Referenced In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2‘s reference to Across The Spider-Verse, the inclusion of a Spider-Verse character is far more likely to occur in a future title. Whilst the third Spider-Verse movie is yet to release, Peter Parker’s cameo tells fans all they need to know – the hints of Insomniac’s universe and the movie universe colliding in one form or another are increasingly likely.
Considering the current stage of Across The Spider-Verse‘s Miles Morales and his story, along with Miguel’s hunt for him, fans could be gearing up to see Miguel appear and run into Insomniac’s Miles. As the easter egg in the game mentions Miguel, it would be a surprise to see this potential plot point forgotten in the next game.
5 Connection With Other Heroes
Marvel’s Spider-Man Games Are Yet To Feature Any Other Avengers Characters
Taking the lack of other Marvel character cameos in all of Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man titles, the opportunity to make it a reality has grown. With Miles now the main Spider-Man, meeting well-known Marvel characters like Captain America, Iron Man, or any street-level hero would make even more sense – it is suggested that Peter has met and knows of the Avengers, but there are only easter eggs present.
If Miles is set to be the main playable character from here on out, fans would then be able to see these famous heroes for the first time within Insomniac’s universe, just as Miles does, serving as a greater surprise.
