Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree release date speculation
There is no confirmed release date for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. While this is disappointing, the Elden Ring DLC was officially announced in February 2023. The news was shared along with an image on the game’s official Twitter page.
Some leaks are indicating the Elden Ring DLC will be released in February 2024, we suspect the game is much further away. We could probably hope to see Shadow of the Erdtree be released in 2025, which is sure to upset many if that’s the case.
FromSoft has remained quiet since the 2023 announcement, save for an interview with Game Watch in December 2023. The developers said that Shadow of the Erdtree would be bigger compared to Bloodborne’s The Old Hunters DLC, and that the DLC is “Still a little ways off, but progress is going well.”
Outside of this interview, all we have to go on while we wait for the DLC is the information tweeted out with the announcement: “Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together. An upcoming expansion for Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, is currently in development. We hope you look forward to new adventures in the Lands Between.”
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree potential plot
Since we have nothing more than a single image to draw any conclusions, it is fairly impossible to guess what the story will be in Shadow of the Erdtree. Will it take place in the past? Will there simply be a brand new area to explore in the Lands Between? Based on the image, some are suggesting that the ashen-haired character we see could be Miquella, an important character in the lore who doesn’t appear in the base game.
However the DLC turns out, we will be sure to keep this page up to date with fresh information as and when we hear about it.
