For our latest Legendary Pokemon locations guide in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as part of The Indigo Disk, we’re going over where to find Latios including its exact location on the Paldea map.
Latios, along with Latias, form a pair called the Eon duo. Of the two, Latios is very slightly stronger but a bit more frail, too. The good news is that neither Latias nor Latios are version exclusive, so you can catch both of them in the same game. That said, if you’re playing Pokemon Violet, you can only access Latios if you complete Group Quests with other real-life players via the Union Circle feature.
Latios location guide
If you’re trying to catch every single Legendary Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet, be prepared for a grind. The returning ones are locked behind Snacksworth, who doesn’t appear until after you clear the DLC’s main story. To obtain Latios, you’ll need to complete at least 10 Solo Quests (if you’re playing Scarlet) or at least 1 Group Quest (if you’re playing Violet). Once you’ve done this, you will receive a random Legendary Pokemon’s snack from Snacksworth, which then spawns that Pokemon at a specific location in Paldea for Scarlet and Violet. Unfortunately, the snack you receive is random, so if you’re specifically going after Latios you might have to do more than 10 Solo Quests or 1 Group Quest.
Latios appears at Level 70, and it only knows attacking moves. Make sure you bring a Pokemon that can withstand its hits and you should be good to go. This Pokemon is Shiny locked, but if you want to catch it in a matching Poke Ball, a Great Ball matches Latios’ colors almost perfectly.
We have guides available for the rest of the Legendary Pokemon locations, and you can find our master list of them through this link. Feel free to let us know if you have any suggestions for future guides, too.
