A firmware issue affecting the saved progress of Baldur’s Gate 3 players on Xbox now has a workaround from Larian Studios that will provide these players with temporary relief. Xbox save issues for Baldur’s Gate 3 have been plaguing the game for several days now, but this trick from Larian Studios will hopefully provide some relief for players.
It’s no secret that Baldur’s Gate 3 has been one of the most talked about games of 2023. It was a great year for Larian Studios, and this culminated in an exciting Game of the Year win for Baldur’s Gate 3. The RPG was a huge hit among many PC and PS5 fans, but Xbox fans had to wait a little bit longer than everyone else. After the game had a stellar performance at the Game Awards on December 7, Larian Studios revealed after the awards show that Baldur’s Gate 3 was finally available for Xbox. Although the wait for Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox was finally over, there has been a firmware bug that has not been properly saving the progress of some players.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Players Should Always Bring One Specific Character Along
Though Astarion is useful when not playing a Rogue, there is one Baldur’s Gate 3 character who remains universally useful in almost any situation.
Thankfully, Larian Studios has revealed a temporary fix via its official Twitter for Baldur’s Gate 3 players until Microsoft is able to officially correct the problem. Affected Xbox players need to create a Larian account and follow a series of instructions in order to effectively save one’s progress. The method isn’t perfect, but it’s at least a solution until Microsoft fixes the firmware issue that’s causing this bug.
How to Implement Temporary Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox Save Issue Fix
- After creating a Larian account, select Options from the Main Menu. Then, activate Cross-Save under Gameplay. This will connect one’s Larian account to one’s Xbox account.
- A player’s last 5 Baldur’s Gate 3 saves will be uploaded to Larian’s servers. The upload is finished when “Syncing Cloud Save” can no longer be seen. Players should not exit the game before this has been done.
- If players encounter the firmware bug, activating Cross-Save via the Options menu will give players access to their most recent saves that were successful.
Although this isn’t exactly the fix that many Xbox players were hoping for, it’s great that Larian Studios is making the effort to offer player’s solutions until everything is officially resolved. Microsoft has already had to fix save issues in Baldur’s Gate 3, and it’s unfortunate that the problem still persists. However, until the firmware issue is corrected, there is at least an effective workaround from Larian Studios.
