It’s no big mystery that the Dragon’s Dogma series draws a lot of inspiration from Dungeons & Dragons, and today Capcom released a new Dragon’s Dogma 2 illustration that shows exactly that.
The illustration is basically a homage to the cover of the famous “red box” 1983 version of the first Edition of Dungeons & Dragons, and it looks awesome.
The fact that it celebrates the Year of the Dragon is also perfectly appropriate.
You can check out a direct comparison between the illustration and the cover below. It’s impossible not to notice the homage. The art even reproduces the weathering that is basically present on every vintage box of the tabletop RPG.
It was posted on X (formerly Twitter) alongside a message from director Hideaki Itsuno.
