GTA Online: How to Start Heists

Anyone acquainted with GTA Online would know that heists are a crucial part of its gameplay. They are tricky, multi-tiered missions consisting of smaller setup missions that culminate into one grand finale. In these missions, players can invite their friends and work together to pull off some serious thefts. Every heist requires a bunch of players, each doing a different job, like hacking or controlling crowds.

Each heist has a different setup cost, and if players succeed, they get a ton of cash. The tougher the heist, the more money players will earn. For those who don’t know how to start heists in GTA Online, this guide is here to help.

How to Host a Heist in GTA Online

The first prerequisite to starting a heist in GTA Online is that players should have a rank of 12 or above. Another important requirement is that players should own a high-end apartment for the heist planning room.

To be a heist leader, players must have a lot of money. This is because leaders will have to hire NPC personnel needed for the job and also bear the setup costs. Plus, even the lowest-priced high-end apartment costs around $200,000. It’s important to note that players can still join heists if they don’t meet the aforementioned requirements, but they cannot host them.

If a player clears the above prerequisites to become a heist leader, they will receive a call from Lester Crest, a recurring character in GTA Online. He is a heist planner and helps players in their missions. Lester extends an invitation to the player to start the heist and meet him at his garment factory. When the player accepts the heist, they become the leader. As a leader, they can now call other players for the heist and decide their roles. Heist members can be scouted from the friend list, the lobby, or crew mates from some previous heist.

Unlike crew members who get paid after every setup mission, heist leaders don’t get anything. However, they do get a bigger cut from the final payout and also get 10% more RP than crew members.
