Jewelry Bonney is one of the most interesting up-and-coming prospects in the One Piece series. Despite being quite young, Bonney has a load of potential that makes her extremely special as a fighter. In the Egghead Island arc, fans have already seen quite a lot of Bonney and her incredible Devil Fruit power.
One Piece: Oda Reveals The Secret Behind Bonney’s Distorted Future
Bonney’s distorted future is one of the most overpowered abilities in One Piece.
However, the true potential of this Devil Fruit is still under wraps. As the story progresses, fans will see more glimpses of Bonney and her true Devil Fruit ability and find out why exactly this Devil Fruit was of so much interest to Saturn of the Five Elders. Among all the incredible futures that Bonney can tap into, the one that can be the most deadly to the World Government is that of Nika.
Bonney’s Devil Fruit Ability
Bonney possesses the powers of the Toshi Toshi no Mi. Fans saw her tap into the power of this Devil Fruit during the Kuma flashback, first of all. Fans assumed that Bonney had found this Devil Fruit somewhere and consumed it. However, Bonney made no such admission and the people around her just assumed that she had eaten this fruit and gained its powers. Recently, in One Piece, it was finally revealed that Bonney actually never ate this Devil Fruit. When she was still a baby, Bonney was experimented upon by those of the World Government. Specifically, in her case, the experimentation was carried out by Saint Jaygarcia Saturn, one of the Five Elders.
Saturn was trying to put a strain of the Devil Fruits’ power inside a newborn’s body without having them consume the fruit. Surprisingly, this experimentation was successful and Bonney ended up gaining the powers of the Toshi Toshi no Mi. Of course, the fruit itself was useless after this experiment was carried out.
It is highly likely that Bonney’s Devil Fruit ability was dormant until she grew up a bit and learned how to utilize this power later on as she grew stronger. Once she did that, it did not take her long to make use of some of the most interesting abilities that this Devil Fruit offers. Bonney can certainly utilize the powers of age manipulation, however, the strongest ability of this fruit is Distorted Future and fans have already seen that in effect quite a few times in the story.
The Potential Of Bonney’s Power
The potential that Bonney’s Devil Fruit carries is absolutely immense. This is one of the most overpowered Devil Fruit abilities that fans have seen in One Piece today. Just the basic application of this fruit is dangerous enough on its own. This fruit can alter the ages of anyone that Bonney touches with her palm, turning them into either old and sickly people or toddlers who can barely walk. Bonney is exceptionally overpowered, however, that is not the true power of this fruit that makes it so special. The true power of the Toshi Toshi no Mi is the ability known as Distorted Future. Simply put, Distorted Future allows Bonney to envision a particular future and then make it a reality.
One Piece: Oda Reveals How The Sapphire Scale Disease Was Created
One Piece reveals the cause of Bonney and Ginny’s disease – the sapphire scale disease.
For instance, when Bonney was chasing Dr Vegapunk in his lab, she wanted more strength and speed and, thus, took the form of a Buccaneer, despite not being one. Fans know for a fact that Bonney is not the biological child of Kuma. However, using the power of a Devil Fruit, she could envision a future where she was a Buccaneer and, thus, was able to bring forth the power of this race. Of course, this transformation is temporary, however, it is still one of the most overpowered abilities in One Piece.
In the Kuma flashback, fans also saw a Bonney take the form of yet another incredible individual and that is Nika. Bonney heard about Nika and the legends surrounding this individual from Kuma. As such, Bonney was able to envision a Nika-like future for herself and, thanks to that power, she was able to absolutely overwhelm Alpha in combat, destroying her in just a single punch. This showed the true potential of Bonney’s ability and, from there onwards, Bonney made a great name for herself, which is rather easy for fans to see why, as she has limitless potential as a pirate.
Bonney acquired a bounty of 140 million berries and, after the timeskip, this amount has risen to 320 million berries, despite her being just 12 years old. This might come as a surprise to many fans, however, for someone with a dangerous Devil Fruit ability such as hers, this amount is actually an understatement, if anything.
Can Bonney Transform Into Nika?
The true potential of Bonney’s Devil Fruit lies in her transforming into anything that she can envision. As such, if Bonney can envision Nika in his true form, then she can take the form of him too. Bonney doesn’t know that Nika has an all-white transformation and the abilities that he carries. This is simply down to the fact that Bonney has never seen Nika in reality. In the previous chapter of One Piece, Bonney tried turning into Nika and Saturn realized that she hadn’t connected Luffy’s all-white transformation to the actual Nika. This means Bonney doesn’t know the true extent of Nika’s powers.
Furthermore, as noted on Saturn, Bonney’s ability to transform relies heavily on the clarity of her own circumstances. As such, if Bonney’s belief in something wavers, then she cannot undergo that transformation at all. In the previous chapter, Saturn tried to belittle the legend of Nika and, because of that, Bonney couldn’t even take the form of regular Nika that she was easily able to do in the past. However, this also works conversely. For example, if Luffy takes the form of Nika in front of Bonney, that is, in its full glory with white hair and the freedom to do anything, then Bonney’s belief in Nika will be strengthened even more. At the same time, Bonney will also realize what the real Nika looks like and her imagination of Nika will then resemble the actual figure from the Void Century. This would essentially mean that Bonney will be able to take the form of the real Nika and gain an all-white transformation with a free and rubbery body as well.
Simply put, the Nika that Bonney can transform into right now is an unfinished product. However, once she sees the real Nika, she can transform into him and spell trouble for the World Government. This would prove to be a grave danger for Saturn as he would then be faced by not just one but two Nika and this would also increase his chances of falling in the Egghead Island arc. Of course, at the end of the day, only Luffy can be the true Nika, and Bonney’s Devil Fruit will certainly present her with some limitations in some way or form. Regardless, her potential as the second Nika is certainly going to be incredible.
