A Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player discovered a cool new way to get around Paldea using the new Synchronization feature introduced in The Indigo Disk DLC. Synchronization opened up some groundbreaking game design space for the Pokemon games, with this discovery being one of the cool bits that came with it.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is still chugging along with new content after its 2022 release, with the latest being the recently released The Indigo Disk. The Indigo Disk is the second part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, the endgame storyline that Nintendo and The Pokemon Company had introduced earlier in 2023 with its first expansion The Teal Mask. This DLC brought an exciting new feature in Synchronization, which allows players to roam around the game as their Pokemon, something the games have never really done before.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Leaks Hint at Mythical Pokemon Debut

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet get the new DLC Indigo Disk, and now leaks hint that Paldea will soon see the debut of another powerful Pokemon.

Twitter user PokeDoodles posted their in-game footage from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in which they were playing as their Gholdengo, with a twist: the Gholdengo gets to smoothly skate around Paldea on its golden skateboard. PokeDoodles captioned their video as “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater: Pokemon Edition,” referencing the iconic skating game series. This apparently also isn’t the first time a game had been turned into Tony Hawk.

This feature is fully in line with Gholdengo’s design. Introduced in Generation 9, Gholdengo is a Ghost/Steel Pokemon made up of 1,000 coins, and its main characteristic is that it can control these coins magically, which is how it creates the skateboard. Its fun, playful, and cute appearance already makes it a fan-favorite Pokemon, and the ability to skate around Paldea is only going to boost its popularity.

Meanwhile, Synchronization has been proving to be a big hit among many players. Unlocking the feature is easy, as players simply have to advance the Indigo Mask story to get the Synchro Machine—meaning they won’t have to go through a long and challenging sidequest to get it. After decades of a gameplay formula that’s been mostly unchanged, being able to directly play as Pokemon in a mainline game is a refreshing deviation. While it doesn’t serve a major storyline purpose at the moment, the positive reception to the feature could make it a bigger factor in future stories.

There’s no word yet on whether Nintendo plans to follow up The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero with more DLC. Though most players have already gone through its story content, The Indigo Disk should still keep them busy for a while, especially since it still contains a lot of hidden Pokemon secrets to discover.
