Hydrapple is Dipplin’s new evolution introduced in The Indigo Disk DLC, and we’ll tell you about how to evolve it in this post.
There have been hints about this since The Teal Mask. In the game’s code, Dipplin was capable of utilizing the Eviolite item – which is only possible if the Pokemon can evolve again. Indeed, Dipplin has received a brand-new evolution in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disk DLC. Before Dipplin can evolve, however, you need Applin to evolve. We wrote a guide on how to evolve Applin into Dipplin a while back, and you can check that out right here before we continue with our Dipplin evolution guide.
Dipplin evolution guide
Once you’ve evolved an Applin into Dipplin, it can evolve once again into Hydrapple. To induce a Dipplin evolution, all you have to do is level it up while it knows the new move Dragon Cheer. You actually obtain this as a TM from the Dragon-type Elite Four member, so you can evolve your Dipplin into Hydrapple right away if you like.
Hydrapple retains Dipplin’s Grass/Dragon-typing and can have the Abilities Supersweet Syrup, Regenerator, and Sticky Hold. For more info on its base stats and competitive details, feel free to check out our corresponding guide we released a little while ago.
We’re continuing our coverage of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disk DLC over the next few weeks, too. First, check our big list of every guide we’ve ever written for the game here. We’ll be updating that post every time we release a new guide, so you’re welcome to check in every so often for the latest content! What’s your opinion on Hydrapple’s design, then? Are you a little bit disappointed that it isn’t our first Bug/Dragon-type Pokemon? Feel free to let us know in the comments down below!
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now, and you can check out the official site right here.
