Highlights
- Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad makes most of the Justice League servants of Brainiac, though Wonder Woman is portrayed as an ally rather than a villain.
- Batman, Green Lantern, and Flash will have intriguing boss fights due to how comprehensive they are as characters, while Superman’s vulnerability to kryptonite makes him the easiest to kill if Task Force X can obtain enough of the substance.
The latest marketing for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been bittersweet. On one hand, seeing all the work Rocksteady put into designing Green Lantern, Flash, Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman is terrific. But on the other hand, the feeling is double-barreled; it’s either unfortunate that they weren’t playable in a Justice League game instead, or it’s unfortunate that this may be the last time they’re seen in this universe’s present canon if players are truly able to kill them. The jury’s still out on whether that’ll end up being true or not, but if so, one Justice League member may be much easier to kill than the others.
Wonder Woman seems officially off the table in terms of which superheroes may perish, if at all. The marketing thus far has removed her from that equation completely, even in recent pieces of concept art, since she might behave more like an unwilling ally than an unwilling villain. But Batman, Green Lantern, Flash, and Superman have all been seen with a purple discoloration on their faces and eyes, meaning they will contribute to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s main bosses. Of those bosses, Superman’s iconic vulnerability may hinder him the most when it comes to having a spectacular boss fight.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has the perfect template for how to approach its Batman boss fight in looking to its past villain boss fights.

Batman, Green Lantern, and Flash are Much More Complex Superheroes
The Game Awards 2023 gave huge teases as to what the boss fights for Green Lantern, Flash, and Batman will look like with some fascinating implications made in the story. Green Lantern creates a colossal construct of himself as well as other weapons and obstacles in the environment as he sprays minigun fire into Metropolis; Flash seemingly charges his Speed Force in energy bubbles that players fire at; and Batman may flood an area with Scarecrow’s fear toxin to portray himself as the Knightmare Batman that was teased at the end of Arkham Knight.
Thwarting Green Lantern and Flash seems to come down to attacking them in the open environment while also avoiding their attacks in wide-open bouts of destruction. Batman’s boss fight hasn’t been shown in the same capacity, but knowing he will somehow assume the Knightmare persona provides clarity to what that fight might consist of. However, if Task Force X can get their hands on kryptonite, Superman doesn’t stand a chance.
Superman Needs to Be OP if Task Force X Can Get Their Hands on Kryptonite
Of course, Superman would be able to decapitate Task Force X swiftly if he wanted to, and therefore he’s likely going to be scaled down in terms of aggression. Having Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s Wonder Woman keep him at bay even for a little while may be the sort of deus ex that players see often in the game as a result, but perhaps kryptonite ammunition could slow him down.
It’s also possible that Task Force X could devise a way to trap Superman in an environment that is soaked in red sun emissions to sap his power, similar to what is achieved in Injustice 2. Regardless, even if Superman is the most imposing and intimidating Justice League member based on his abilities alone, he also has the most exploitable weakness that ARGUS or Wonder Woman will likely have considered before Task Force X is meant to go up against him in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
