LEGO Fortnite Player Count is Higher Than Fortnite Battle Royale

The player count of LEGO Fortnite has overtaken that of the game’s main Battle Royale map, newly emerged data reveals. This bit of unofficial insight into the mode’s launch further underlines the incredible potential of Fortnite and LEGO‘s newly introduced crossover.

Originally announced in early December, LEGO Fortnite is a survival crafting game that’s incorporated into Fortnite itself. The crossover experience was first released on December 7. Unlike its Battle Royale counterpart, LEGO Fortnite emphasizes collaborative exploration, allowing players to mine and otherwise collect the iconic plastic bricks that can then be used for building a wide assortment of things.

The formula has already proven to be a smashing hit, with unofficial tracker Fortnite.gg estimating that LEGO Fortnite has been attracting millions of players on a daily basis since its December 7 debut. Specifically, the mode’s daily player peak has yet to fall below two million, and has hit nearly 2.2 million on December 10. For context, that makes it twice as popular as the game’s Battle Royale mode, which was historically responsible for all of Fortnite‘s most impressive player count records.

Most Played Fortnite Maps Today

Less than four days into its release, LEGO Fortnite boasts an all-time player peak of nearly 2.5 million. That figure puts it within reach of the main Battle Royale map, which peaked at 3.1 million players in early November. During its launch weekend, the survival crafting experience attracted about as many players as the next four most-played modes combined. On a purely mechanical level, LEGO Fortnite is not too far off what Epic originally envisioned for Fortnite: Save the World. But the LEGO IP has already allowed it to surpass that original survival crafting mode 30 times over, player count-wise.

Fortnite Rocket Racing Also Boasts an Impressive Player Count

The Rocket Racing mode from Rocket League developer and Epic subsidiary Psyonix also had a fairly promising debut in recent days; originally launched on November 30, Rocket Racing hit its all-time peak over the second weekend of December, when it was simultaneously played by over 625,000 people. While that figure pales in comparison to LEGO Fortnite‘s numbers, it still highlights Epic’s ability to continue putting out highly derivative Fortnite content that manages to be successful without relying on licensed IPs.

LEGO Fortnite is Just the Beginning

As for the company’s latest hit collaboration, LEGO Fortnite‘s promising debut is ostensibly just a sign of things to come. Namely, the massively popular mode is only the first experience resulting from Epic and LEGO’s 2022 partnership that promised to deliver a compelling entertainment metaverse suitable for all ages.
