Today third-party developers shared updates about upcoming add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, on top of a scenery release.
Fans of the Boeing 777 have been waiting for a long time to get their hands on the aircraft that was announced by acclaimed developer PMDG pretty much when the simulator launched.
The developer has teased development progress quite a bit over the year, but we never saw screenshots… until now.
CEO Robert Randazzo showcased a rear view of the aircraft’s left main landing gear, and while it isn’t much, it’s much better than nothing and it looks really sweet.
Of course, you can expect a report as soon as more is showcased. Randazzo did tease possible previews related to eggnog, so we might see more by Christmas.
Incidentally, Randazzo talked about “a few other projects that are rolling up on critical stages of their development and release cycles,” so we may also get to see the 737 MAX sooner rather than later.
The developer explained in a recent interview with Sky Blue Radio that the MAX will be released shortly after it’s first showcased.
More images have been revealed by Gate15Scenery, which completed the modeling of the unique terminal roof of its Miyako Airport (ROMY) in Japan, on top of partial interiors.
We also get a release from Orbx, and it’s another of its Mesh series, dedicated to the British Isles.
Here’s what you get in the package.
- A variety of DEM data (including Digital Terrain Models) have been processed
- Low-resolution areas in the current MSFS terrain mesh have been filled
- Gaps were filled with airborne LiDAR data, with 2-m resolution in Ireland and 1-m resolution elsewhere
- Mountainous upland ranges also have received high-quality DEM data
- Spikes and other visual issues along tile boundaries have been reduced
- Raster data were compiled into CGL format, to prevent conflict with the default coastline vector data
- The combined source data were processed to minimize LOD popping
- Fully self-contained product with minimal performance impact
- Compatible with other Orbx GB products and MSFS World Updates
