A Pokemon fan designed some impressive pixel art of the Legendary Pokemon of the Kalos region, Xerneas and Yveltal, and shared their work with other Pokemon trainers on social media. The Pokemon pixel artist received compliments from their peers, particularly for their dedication and attention to detail with the designs of the two Pokemon.
Known respectively as the Life Pokemon and the Destruction Pokemon, Xerneas and Yveltal are the box art legendary Pokemon of Pokemon X and Y, which celebrated their 10th anniversary in October 2023. As a Fairy-type Pokemon, Xerneas is capable of using its signature move, Geomancy, to bolster its stats. Geomancy is then followed up with powerful attacks such as Moonblast. By contrast, the Dark and Flying dual-type Yveltal is more aggressive with its tactics. It can use its signature move, Oblivion Wing, to heal itself for 75% of the damage dealt. With its Dark Aura ability adding more potency to Oblivion Wing, the destructive Yveltal is a formidable foe for Pokemon that are weak to Dark-type attacks to contend with.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC Giving Koraidon and Miraidon New Ability
With Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Indigo Disk DLC launching soon, Nintendo reveals the addition of a new permanent ability for Koraidon and Miraidon.
One Pokemon fan took it upon themselves to depict the Legendary Pokemon of Kalos in a different light. A Redditor named IanFelinne took the box art legendaries and transformed them into pixel art posts on the r/pokemon subreddit. For Xerneas, the artist had them facing the right, with their multicolored horns and royal blue body standing out against the black background. While Xerneas’ lower body, tail, and legs are usually black, the OP lightened them up a bit to make them easier to see. The horns on Xerneas were lit up, which indicated it was ready for a battle. As for Yveltal, the OP stated that they created pixel art of the Destruction Pokemon sometime after Xerneas was already finished.
However, they waited to post them as a pair. The artwork showed Yveltal gearing up to use its Oblivion Wing attack, with a dark swirl surrounding its tail and its wings pulsing with energy. The Destruction Pokemon faced towards the left, seemingly toward Xerneas. The OP received compliments from other Pokemon fans for their effort. While Xerneas and Yveltal were not among the list of legendary Pokemon returning in The Indigo Disk DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, only time will tell if they will be added in future updates.
With Pokemon X and Y turning 10, the hope for a Kalos remake, or a Pokemon Legends game set there, continues to grow. With fans such as IanFelinne depicting the Life and Destruction Pokemon in their way, it remains to be seen if The Pokemon Company will consider it.
