Cursed Techniques in Jujutsu Kaisen are generally character-specific techniques that are unique to every person. These techniques typically develop within someone at around 6 or 7 years of age and can be thought of as a manifestation of the inner personality and thoughts of that person and, can be used either offensively or defensively. There are also always outliers, such as Junpei Yoshino who got his technique at 17.
However, there exist some techniques that, while being unique to characters, are not a manifestation of who they are. Rather, these techniques are passed down through the centuries and are all very powerful. So, let’s break down the history and details of what these Inherited Techniques are and who uses them within the current setting of Jujutsu Kaisen.
What are Inherited Techniques?
Inherited Techniques are specific and very powerful Cursed Techniques that belong to certain families or clans within the Jujutsu world. While most of the known Inherited Techniques belong to any one of the 3 great families, this is not always the case. These techniques have existed within the world for quite some time and are passed down through the lineage of the clan to different members.
One thing that all Inherited Techniques have in common is the fact that they are all incredibly strong, with most of them being among the most powerful techniques in the entire Jujutsu world. For some techniques, it is not known who within its corresponding family will inherit it, while some, such as Limitless, are seemingly inherited by every member of the clan. Due to this, multiple living members of a family can use the same Inherited Technique.
Inumaki Family: Cursed Speech

Cursed Speech is the Inherited Technique unique to the Inumaki family, which is not one of the 3 great families of Jujutsu Kaisen. The way that it works is that Cursed Speech reinforces the words of the user with cursed energy, making it one of the most versatile and effective techniques as those who come under the influence of these words must act upon what they say. For example, if someone is told to stop in their tracks, they will be forced to do so.
The users of Cursed Speech need a tool with a particular set of markings and seals on it, as seen with both Yuta and Toge having markings on their tongues and cheeks (Yuta even uses a megaphone with the seals on it). The strength of the technique largely depends on the strength of the user as it can be used against any living thing, though there are side effects that come with the ability. The harder and more complex the command, the higher the toll it takes on the user, leading to a bloody throat and the inability to speak for a while.
Kamo Family: Blood Manipulation
The Kamo Family is one of the 3 great families in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen and holds a great amount of influence and sway over all that happens in the Jujutsu world. The most notable members in the story are Choso and both characters named Noritoshi Kamo, with the one in the current day having the ability to use Blood Manipulation, the main Inherited Technique of the Kamo family that allows the user to shape and change the flow of blood.
While this initially seems like a situational ability that doesn’t allow the user to do much, it is quite versatile as it allows them to shape their blood into any shape that they can think of and manipulate every facet of their blood, even the cells and the plasma. This blood can be hardened to make weapons and projectiles, but the most efficient and powerful usage of this attack comes in the form of Piercing Blood.
Piercing Blood takes the blood of the user and compresses it to reach the maximum pressure that it possibly can. By fortifying the blood with Jujutsu and compressing it with their hands, users can shoot the pressurized blood out of their hands at the speed of sound, which makes the attack powerful enough to destroy buildings. This technique was shown in its most powerful form by Sukuna in his fight against Gojo.
Zenin Family: Ten Shadows and Projection Sorcery
The Zenin Family is also one of the 3 great families and they are the ones that are shown in the story to have the most expansive arsenal of powerful Cursed Techniques. The strongest and most notable of their Inherited Techniques is the Ten Shadows used by Megumi, which allows him to store and utilize 10 different Shikigami, each of them with their own strengths and particulat utilization in a battle.
The most powerful of these Shikigami is the tenth one, Mahoraga, who has never been tamed by a Zenin Clan member in history. This technique is also the one with the most potential, as Gojo once revealed to Megumi that centuries in the past, the leaders of both of their clans fought one another and both ended up dying. He revealed that the head of the Zenin family had the Ten Shadows while the head of the Gojo family had the Limitless with the Six Eyes. This goes to show that if this technique is mastered, the one wielding it has the capabitlity of being strongest sorcerer in the world.
Projection Sorcery is another Inherited Technique belonging to the Zenin family. This is an example of a technique belonging to 2 members of the same clan at the same time, as the head of the clan, Naobito along with his son Naoya both use Projection Sorcery. Not only is this one of the most complicated Cursed Techniques in all of Jujutsu Kaisen, but also one of the strongest.
This technique allows for the user to become incredibly fast, as Naobito was considered to be the second fastest sorcerer in the whole world after Gojo and Naoya was able to reach Mach 5 at one point in the Culling Game. This technique allows the sorcerer to see their opponent in frames and predict their moves and positions. If the prediction of its movements is correct, the opponent becomes frozen in time within a frame for one second, in which the sorcerer can inflict a lot of damage.
Gojo Family: Limitless and the Six Eyes
The Gojo Family is considered to be the most powerful of all the great families of Jujutsu Kaisen, mainly because of the strength of their heads. Limitless is the main Inherited Technique of this family and one that is implied to belong to every member of this family. This ability is the ultimate defense of the Jujutsu world, where an invisible forcefield surrounds the sorcerer, perpetually slowing down everything that reaches them to the point where it never actually touches them. Limitless also grants users the offensive Blue, Red, and Purple techniques.
Alongside this, the Gojo clan also has an Inherited Gift called the Six Eyes, which gives them the most efficient way of using their Cursed Technique and energy. Only those with the Six Eyes can make full use of Limitless as it prevents them from wasting any of their energy, fully utilizing it for their attacks and defenses and also giving them the ability to better sense the cursed energy of others. However, only one user of the Six Eyes can exist at a time, and it is never known when the Six Eyes will appear, with Satoru being the current user of the gift.
