If you’re as excited about LEGO Fortnite as we are, the first thing you’ll likely want to know is if it is free to play. Let me answer that for you in this guide.
Does LEGO Fortnite cost money to play?
LEGO Fortnite is a completely free to play game. Unlike Fortnite Save the World which is a sandbox survival tower defense version of Fortnite that requires you to buy it to play it, LEGO Fortnite is following Fortnite’s example and staying free to play.

As far as we know, LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival are all stand alone free to play games coming to Fortnite. Personally, I’m most excited to play LEGO Fortnite because LEGO is awesome and I want to see what kind of survival crafting game Epic Games cooked up.
The question on my mind is whether LEGO Fortnite will have its own Battle Pass. My current guess is that it won’t, and neither will Rocket Racing or Fortnite Festival. I could be wrong; we could get surprised with individual Battle Passes for all of these new game modes, but my guess is that there will be unlockable cosmetics in these game modes but no Battle Passes. I think that would be too greedy of Epic Games, but I’ve been wrong before.
How to play LEGO Fortnite
Like Call of Duty HQ, Fortnite is a new hub space that launches all Fortnite games. To play LEGO Fortnite, you need to launch Fortnite and, once in-game, select the LEGO Fortnite option.
Hopefully, each individual Fortnite game will be a separate download instead of needing to download all of Fortnite which might be a large file size, but time will tell. For now, we know that the only way to play LEGO Fortnite is to launch regular Fortnite and select the LEGO Fortnite game mode from there.
