Today Remedy Entertainment dropped a very explicit tease on a much-requested feature coming to its survival horror Alan Wake 2.
Apparently, the game is getting a New Game+ mode, which will let players relive the adventure after completing it.
The tease was shared on X (Formwerly Twitter), with the image below accompanied by the text “New month, new game… plus?”
No further details were provided, so we don’t know exactly how the mode will function or what elements of your playthrough will be carried out to the next.
If you’re unfamiliar with what a New Game+ is, it’s a mode that is usually unlocked after clearing a game, and allows you to replay the story from the start while retaining your progression in terms of items, experience, and more. Of course, the specific details vary greatly from game to game.
From the wording of the post, it’s likely that the new mode will be added with an update at some point this month.
Alan Wake 2 is currently available for PC, Xbox Series X|S. It’s worth mentioning that the PC version is exclusive to the Epic Games Store.
The game has been praised by critics and fans alike and you can check out our review. While our initial score was a 7 out of 10 mostly due to progression-breaking bugs, performance issues, and audio problems, these have since been solved via updates.
On the other hand, our review defines Alan Wake 2 as “one of the best survival horror games we’ve ever played.”
Incidentally, the game is leading nominations at the upcoming The Game Awards show, for which it received 8 nods alongside Baldur’s Gate 3. Both titles are also nominated for Game of the Year, and it’ll certainly be interesting to see which one will win in the end.
