Today Warframe developer Digital Extremes had quite a few announcements to share with the community of the popular online game.
The reveals were provided during an extensive livestream with the developers and we start with the implementation of the Android version of the game.
The iOS version’s closed beta will end on November 30 ahead of the launch in 2024. On the other hand, pre-registrations for the closed beta of the Android version are now open at the official website.
We also get a teaser of Whispers in the Walls, Warframe‘s next cinematic narrative arc that is coming in December.
A precise release date has not been announced but a full reveal will come on December 7 at The Game Awards. In the meantime, you can enjoy the teaser trailer below.
With the launch of Whispers in the Walls, Digital Extremes will also start implementing cross-platform save. I say “start” because it’ll be implemented in waves starting with Founder-level players in order to make sure that everything proceeds smoothly and any issue is tackled properly.
It’ll be implemented between PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Switch, but there are caveats.
First of all, you need to pick the account you want to use as primary. The other accounts will merge into it and the newly merged cross-platform account will retain the quest and mission progression of the primary and will get all the items, customizations, and resources from the other platforms.
Only accounts created before today (November 24) at 2:00 p.m. EST will be eligible for merging. Also, Platinum purchased on Nintendo Switch will stay available only on Nintendo Switch but items purchased with it will transfer.
Platform-exclusive items will remain platform-exclusive, while TennoGen items will transfer between platforms, but there’s a caveat here as well. All TennoGen skins purchased after today will be split between Steam and consoles.
Trading across platforms will be available, excluding platinum on Nintendo Switch, same as above.
It’s worth mentioning that Warframe already has crossplay, so, besides the caveats mentioned above, Digital Extremes is now fully closing the loop.
Recently, the developer suffered a wave of layoffs due to the closure of its publishing arm.
