Is the unreasonably tough tutorial boss in Achilles: Legends Untold actually beatable or simply a scripted loss?

Achilles: Legends Untold starts with our titular hero making his way through Helen before inevitably ending up in a fight against Paris, which is meant as a scripted loss that kicks off the events of the game.

For those not in the know, Paris was the Prince of Troy in Greek Mythology, known both for his proficiency with the bow and arrow and for fatally wounding Achilles.

Players who beat the tutorial realize that Paris is unreasonably tough, but that he definitely takes damage even if his health pool is massive, which sparks the question: Can you beat Paris at the end of the game’s tutorial?

Yes, you actually can beat Paris, although it requires a very specific strategy. Paris is unreasonably strong, has a massive health pool, and can kill you with just a few arrows, also dealing unblockable fire damage.

The most reasonable way to approach his fight is by abusing the knockdown mechanic, which triggers off of specific moves that Achilles can do.

The best way to deal with Paris is by cheesing him with running strong attacks, which will keep knocking him down. Maintaining him stuck in a loop is the best way to whittle down his health, since fighting him fairly is near impossible.

Paris does have a few moves he performs as soon as he gets up, so your timing needs to be perfect when it comes to knocking him down again. If you do it too early he’ll shrug the effect off, and if you do it too late he’ll manage to attack you first.

Unfortunately, there is no item reward for beating Paris, but you do get bragging rights and an achievement that only 0.9% of players possess for the game.

Achilles: Legends Untold is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows (through Steam).
