Ark Survival Ascended is a game that drops you into a dinosaur-infested world, either alone or with other players. While the game is rich in adventure and danger, it’s a bit stingy when it comes to feedback on gathering resources.

You won’t get much more than some easy-to-miss icons on the left side of your screen. This guide aims to fill in those gaps and provide you with a clear understanding of how to gather essential basic resources in Ark Survival Ascended. If you’re after console commands, we have you covered!

How to get Basic Resources in Ark Survival Ascended

Ark Survival Ascended doesn’t offer much guidance on how to gather resources, but that’s what this guide is for. We’ll go over how to collect food, wood, thatch, fiber, and stone so you can survive and thrive in the game.

How to Get Wood, Thatch, and Fiber in Ark Survival Ascended

Wood is crucial for crafting and building structures. To collect wood, find a tree and start punching it. Continue to hit the tree until wood appears in your inventory. It’s as simple as that. It’s the same with Thatch and Fiber. Wood isn’t as common as Thatch or Fiber, though. That is until you get yourself the Stone Hatchet, and then you get plenty of wood from hitting trees.

How to Get Food in Ark Survival Ascended

Food is essential for survival. To gather basic food items like berries, approach a plant and press ‘E’ on your keyboard or ‘Y’ on your Xbox controller. Your character will perform a grabbing motion, and various types of berries such as Stimberrys, Cianberry, Tintoberry, and Narcoberry will be added to your inventory. Or you can murder small dinosaurs with a stone pick and cook it using a campfire.

How to Get Stone in Ark Survival Ascended

Stone is vital for crafting tools and building certain types of structures. To collect stone, find a small stone, usually found on beaches, and press ‘E’ on your keyboard or ‘Y’ on your Xbox controller. Your character will make a grabbing motion, and stone will be added to your inventory. If the grabbing animation doesn’t trigger, it means the object you’re trying to pick up isn’t a collectible stone. You can get stone by hitting it with a Stone Pick but it’s easy to pick it up as finding the stone you have to hit is annoying.
