As with every major new update, Season 2 of Diablo 4, the Season of Blood, has brought with it a suite of issues alongside its bounty of new content and improvements. Particularly noteworthy among these is a bug related to one of the first seasonal quests you’ll take on during the season, Summons of the Deathless. Players are finding it very difficult to proceed beyond this quest, and are therefore unable to enjoy much of the narrative content the season brings to the table. If you’re one of these players then fear not, for the following guide will show you how to fix the Summons of the Deathless Quest Bug in Diablo 4.

How to get around the Summons of the Deathless Quest Bug in Diablo 4

You’ll likely encounter this bug upon completing the Summons of the Deathless quest during the seasonal questline. After your chat with Lord Zir down in the Hallow Tomb, you’ll return to the surface, at which point the next quest in the chain simply won’t appear. This is highly unusual for Diablo 4 structurally, and is actually down to a bug with how your quest objectives are displayed.

In order to unlock the next seasonal quest in line, A Witness in the Dust, you’ll need to complete the first chapter of Season of Blood’s Season Journey in addition to completing Summons of the Deathless. This was the case for some of the seasonal quests during Season of the Malignant too, but in those cases players were explicitly told to do so, which avoided the confusion people are experiencing this time.

You can view your Season Journey by navigating to the Season tab, just left of the map screen. Here you’ll see a list of objectives, ranging from collecting Reddamine in the Dry Steppes to activating a Vampiric Power. There are eight total objectives in chapter one, and you’ll need to complete six of them in order to complete it. Once you have, make sure you claim the rewards via this screen in order to ‘officially’ complete it, since the next quest won’t show up unless you do.

Once this is done, A Witness in the Dust will appear as your next priority quest, and you’ll be able to proceed with the seasonal storyline as normal. Given that multiple quests required you to complete chapters of the Seasonal Journey to progress in Season 1, this issue may well come up again later down the line, so knowing how to fix the Summons of the Deathless quest bug in Diablo 4 may just prove useful in the future as well.
