Love heists but feel like the Payday series just doesn’t scratch the itch? Too gritty? Want to be a dashing cat burglar instead? Well now’s your chance, as Midnight Girl gives you the chance to take on a criminal career in the Europe of yesteryear.
Midnight Girl is a stylish point-and-click adventure game where the action takes place on a 2D plane, though that doesn’t limit its ambition.
The game takes some inspiration from Belgian comics, like The Adventures Of Tintin, and takes us back to the swinging sixties. The location? Paris.
A Life Of Crime
Monique is a successful cat burglar in the French capital, using her wits and dexterity to make a living, despite her young age. While she already lives a pretty exciting life, things take a serious turn after one of her thefts goes wrong.
Stuck in jail, she teams up with a mysterious fellow inmate to escape and go for a big score, an extremely valuable diamond.
It’s not as simple as she thinks though. They’re being followed.
The journey will take you through the foggy streets of Paris, into crumbling manors, into Catholic monasteries, and even delving down, past the tunnels of the Paris Metro, and deeper into the miles of catacombs that snake beneath the iconic city.
Live By Your Wits
The game requires you to use your problem-solving skills to tackle puzzles, find secrets, and avoid detection… You spend most of your time somewhere you’re not legally allowed to be, after all.
It’s all presented in a pretty gorgeous comic book style that makes every area absolutely ooze atmosphere.
Sound like your kind of thing? Midnight Girl releases today for PC via Steam. Mobile releases are also on the way, so we’ll keep an eye out for them in the future.
