The Call of Duty Next broadcast has confirmed that two fan-favourite maps will be returning to Warzone in 2024.

A surprise announcement towards the end of the Warzone reveal in tonight’s Call of Duty Next broadcast, the two maps will be returning next year in the free-to-play battle royale’s Resurgence modes following the Modern Warfare 3 release date. We didn’t get too much information on exactly when they’ll arrive, but Fortune’s Keep will be first in early 2024, followed by Rebirth Island later in the year.

According to Activision’s lengthy blog post detailing all of the announcements during the CoD Next 2023 event, development on both maps will be helmed by High Moon Studios and Beenox, both of which had previously worked on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Naturally, the return of both these maps prompted plenty of excited reactions from the FPS series’ loyal community, and the news that two veteran studios will be working on production should stoke the fires even more.

Now, even though these maps have already been featured in past installments, you’ll need to keep in mind that High Moon Studios and Beenox will likely be introducing new QoL features and improvements to make Warzone Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island more palatable to a wider audience. What these changes will be, though, remains to be seen, but it is likely that players can expect several welcome updates akin to the ones made to the MW3 multiplayer and MW3 Zombies modes.

With that said, if you want to learn more about the next installment ahead of time, we recommend taking a look at our MW3 weapons, MW3 maps, and MW3 Ground War pages. If you’re having trouble deciding what version of the game to get, take a look at our MW3 editions and MW3 price guides instead.
