The Diablo 4 development team has announced that Blizzard’s latest ARPG installment will be released on Steam alongside the launch of Season 2. This means the fourth mainline dungeon-crawling entry will be available through Valve’s popular PC platform on October 17, 2023, together with the next update. Unfortunately, if you want to play on Steam, then you will have to buy it again, as your progress on the Blizzard platform cannot be ported over to a different application.

The surprising but welcome revelation was announced as part of the latest Diablo 4 developer update, wherein the game’s production team discussed the enhancements that will be arriving as part of the Diablo 4 Season 2 release date. Some of the most significant changes that will be introduced include a much easier and “40% faster” level 100 grind, as well as improvements to mount pathing, meaning you won’t have to dismount each time your steed encounters an obstacle.

Naturally, all of the improvements that have been introduced so far, like the ones made to Diablo 4 gems and Diablo 4 Nightmare Dungeons, will be accessible immediately. It’s also worth noting that players who are looking to experience it on a handheld system will finally be able to do so through the Steam Deck. Since the Diablo series, in general, is a Blizzard-owned IP, it wasn’t exactly a surprise that the game was initially made available on their own platform. Its impending availability on Steam, though, should please plenty of gamers, as it remains one of the most popular gaming apps in the world.

Of course, Diablo 4 crossplay functionality will also be included once it gets released on the Valve platform, so you won’t have to worry about partying up with your friends on PlayStation or Xbox. So now that only a few days are left until the launch of Season 2, you won’t have to wait too long now before you can venture through Sanctuary on Steam.
