Meta has announced that the Game Pass service will allow Meta Quest VR headset users to play Xbox Cloud Gaming games within their headsets this December.
The news came as part of last night’s Meta Connect conference, with Mark Zuckerberg himself confirming that those subscribed to Xbox Game Pass will be able to play their Xbox Cloud Gaming catalogue, including games like Forza Motorsport, Halo, Minecraft and the recently released Starfield, on a virtual screen inside their headset this December. According to Zuckerberg, the service will be coming to Quest headsets – and though the presentation was mostly focused around the upcoming release of the Meta Quest 3, it’s believed it’ll also be available on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro headsets too.
The news comes hot on the tail of Xbox retiring their Games With Gold service for the new Xbox Game Pass Core earlier this month, a new lowest tier subscription which includes a selection of games as well as access to online multiplayer. However, Xbox Cloud Gaming isn’t included in this offering, only being available on the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier. Still, it’s very cool to hear of another place you’ll get to play a massive library of Xbox Games, providing you also have the controller.
The Meta Quest 3, meanwhile, is set to launch on October 10 and will be around £480 to buy. For more on the new headset, check out our Meta Quest 3 vs Meta Quest Pro – what are the differences? and our Meta Quest 3 vs Meta Quest 2 – what are the differences? guides.
