Square Enix has decreased the overall scope of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, from shipping on two Blu-ray discs to creative director Tetsuya Nomura promising 100 hours of adventure. However, in an interview with Game Informer, director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed the game’s installation size on PS5 – a whopping 150 GB.

The first disc is 100 GB, while the second is 50 GB, but there’s no disc swapping like the original game. Instead, you’ll install the game using both discs and only require one to play the game. The team opted for two discs to preserve their “lofty vision” for the title, which aims for a “massive, highly detailed world.”

Since one Blu-ray disc would have meant scaling back on content, the developer went for two. Thus far, the scale looks massive, as the amount of side content is double the main quest. You’ll discover locations that aren’t even part of the central story, though Wutai is absent.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is out on February 29th, 2024, for PS5. Check out the latest gameplay here.
