CYGNI: All Guns Blazing, the anticipated space shoot ’em up from developer KeelWorks and publisher Konami, has officially pushed its release window to 2024 according to a new post from Konami’s Twitter feed.

CYGNI: All Guns Blazing was originally expected to launch this year, but the devs have stated they require “more time for testing and polishing”. They plan to continue updating fans over the next few months, and CYGNI: All Guns Blazing will still be appearing at Tokyo Games Show 2023, which begins tomorrow on September 21st.

CYGNI: All Guns Blazing will be available on PC, though console versions are currently expected later on. Here’s the full delay statement from Konami’s post today:

CYGNI: All Guns Blazing made quite the impression at Gamescom 2022, and aims to revitalize the shoot ’em up genre with fresh mechanics, gorgeous visuals, and a strong narrative. It’s about Earth forces battling a powerful and biomechanical alien race on the planet CYGNI.

The official Steam page mentions the devs have taken a cinematic approach, and like everything else in the game, the graphics are undoubtedly ambitious. The world of CYGNI is definitely refined, vibrant, and colorful, so it makes sense that the devs ultimately needed some more time.

There will be some obligatory mechanics like a lone pilot taking on waves of enemies, and epic boss fights. But players will also wield both air-to-air and air-to-ground attacks, collect energy to power their ship, and then manage that power during combat. This is somewhat similar to Starfield’s space combat, streamlined and probably complex enough to avoid redundancy.

Although fans are surely disappointed, they have remained supportive. Any game deserves more time in the oven for a proper launch, and CYGNI: All Guns Blazing has some very promising features.
