Is it a bug or a feature? With the release of Modern Warfare 3 fast approaching, this ever-present question will surely litter the hallowed halls of CoD forums once again, especially now that Sledgehammer Games have confirmed the return of reload canceling.
Ahead of the Modern Warfare 3 release date, the return of this helpful in-game mechanic was confirmed through a recent tweet from the developers themselves. Naturally, several reactions below the affirmative one-word post have primarily been positive since reload canceling has consistently been one of the most useful features in any Call of Duty game. The recent revelation has also prompted some players to heap even more praise upon Sledgehammer Games due to their decisions with MW3.
For those unfamiliar, this mechanic allows you to skip the short animation you get whenever you reload your weapon. Naturally, this gives you more time to run around, get frags, and react to would-be attackers since you can immediately use a fresh set of bullets with your primary weapon. However, since the game’s launch is still quite far off, the button combinations you’ll need to press to use this feature remain unclear at the time of writing.
During the Modern Warfare 2 launch in October 2022, many were predictably disappointed upon learning that reload canceling was removed from the game. Though some players eventually discovered a new method of activating the mechanic, some felt that it was unintuitive and unreliable compared to the previous process introduced in past installments.
Now that Modern Warfare 3 developer Sledgehammer Games is finally bringing back reload canceling, you will no longer have to struggle with clunky button combinations to use it again.
