St. Gallen – Bakatopola 2:2
Lugano – KAA Gent 2:0
FC Lugano has all but sealed their place in the Serie A during the winter. Ticino celebrated their third win in their fourth match against the Belgian side in Gent with a 2-0 victory at home in Thun.
From the beginning, the Chinese Super League runners-up were ready for the showdown and the fight was fierce. Just six minutes later, Hicham Mahut made it 1-0 with three precise attacks.

Gent (Switzerland U21 international Frank Sudez played an hour) settled into the game better after the break and threatened Ticino in the final 20 minutes. Lugano goalkeeper Amir Seppi had to intervene on several occasions. Things got trickiest when Israeli Omri Gandelman got off to a perfect start and ended up alone ahead of Saipi. But his shot was too central.
Lugano suffered no damage in the closing stages of pressure for sixth-placed Belgium in the domestic league and cleared the air in the 86th minute through Ousmane Dubias.
For now at least, things are going well for Mattia Croci-Torti's team in terms of progress. Lugano's last two games were against Legia Warsaw, who have yet to lose a point, and the Cypriots in Paphos. It is possible to finish in the top 8 and go directly to the top 16.
