Yverdon – Basel 1:4

FC Basel confirmed its good form. Fabio Celestini's side showed no weakness in their 4-1 win over Yverdon.

At the Municipal Stadium, which was almost sold out at one point, things went well for FCB and the many fans who accompanied them. After just half an hour, the favorites failed to counter the Vaud canton's dense defense. Captain Dominik Schmid then missed a long shot and scored, 1-0. The first goal was almost a decision as Iverdon played with only ten men after being sent off for a serious foul on Antoine Sottier (19th).

Although Sottil's 100th game for Yverdon came to an early end, Basel were able to move on. Beni Traore combined brilliantly with an assist from Xherdan Shaqiri to make it 2-0 before the break. Leon Avdulahu and Kevin Carlos scored in the second half. For Kevin Carlos from Yverdon, it was Traore's sixth goal of the season.

Basel usually performs well. With 35 goals in 14 games, FCB are by far the most successful attacking team in the league. Yverdon, on the other hand, has only scored one goal in the last three games: Mauro Rodrigues in a 1:4 lead, when the Vaudois team had no way to overcome Basel .

Winterthur – Lausanne 1:0

Winterthur won for the third time this season. Fabian Frey scored in a 1-0 home win over Lausanne Sporting.

After four consecutive wins, Lausanne's series ended at the bottom of the league. The Vaud team can only prove its form in the initial stage. After that, Winterthur got stronger and stronger and rewarded themselves in the 51st minute. Fabian Frei, who moved to FC Basel from FCW as a teenager 20 years ago and returned this summer, sealed an important victory with a beautiful strike.

Lausanne goalkeeper Carlo Letica made two strong saves before the break. The Croatian still had slight control of the ball when Frei shot through, but after seven hours and four clean sheets he could not prevent the first goal. Winterthur initially relinquished bottom spot to Grasshoppers, who will face St. Gallen on Sunday.
