North Korea apparently received huge compensation from Russia for its military involvement in Ukraine. According to South Korea's “Korea Herald” citing South Korea's National Intelligence Service, each North Korean soldier in Russia receives a monthly salary of about US$2,000.

It is said that at least 10,000 North Korean soldiers are heading to Ukraine, and North Korea can generate more than $200 million in revenue annually, according to the National Intelligence Service.
According to reports, in addition to financial resources, North Korea has also received much-needed food aid from Russia: approximately 600,000 to 700,000 tons of rice. Wi Sung-lac, a member of Congress and former South Korean ambassador to Russia, told the Korea Herald that this was “more than half of North Korea's annual needs.”

Russia also supports North Korea with advanced space technology. The aid comes as Pyongyang works to launch another military reconnaissance satellite. Nam Sung-wook of the Institute for National Security Strategy told the Korea Herald that military cooperation between North Korea and Russia will continue after the war ends.

“Military cooperation between North Korea and Russia will continue after the war ends,” the expert said. He said that as part of a mutual defense agreement, they agreed to “immediately provide military assistance if one of the parties is attacked.”
Wei Chengluo also had the same idea. “If a war breaks out on the Korean peninsula, North Korea can now count on Russia to come and help,” he worries.
According to the United States, North Korea has sent about 10,000 troops to Russia, including 8,000 to the western Kursk region. Vladimir Putin signed an agreement with Kim in June that included mutual defense provisions, but he has neither confirmed nor denied the presence of North Korean troops.
