In the final stages of the US campaign, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump were canvassing votes in Wisconsin at the same time – only about eight kilometers apart in a straight line.
American rapper Cardi B welcomed the Democrat on stage in suburban Milwaukee, explaining that Harris inspired her to vote, while the Republican began her speech downtown.
Wisconsin is one of the hotly contested swing states: Trump beat Hillary Clinton here in 2016 by 0.7 percentage points. In 2020, Joe Biden defeated Trump by 0.6 percentage points. There could be another head-to-head matchup this year.

Trump spared no effort in his insults during his speech: When there were technical problems with the microphones, he called his backstage team “stupid”; Own backend team “stupid”. As he often does, he called Harris a “low IQ person.”
Meanwhile, Harris warned Trump of his re-election as president:
“This person doesn't think about how to make your life better.”
Further: “This is an increasingly unstable person, driven by revenge and resentment. This person seeks unfettered power.” She promised a people-centered policy of solidarity: “I took my first day with me Come with a to-do list, not an enemy list.” Her priorities include affordable health care and women's right to self-determination.

As usual, Trump spoke for much longer. When Harris left the stage about 30 minutes later, he was just warming up. Republicans promise to cut taxes and provide a “missile shield” for the United States. He also repeated unsubstantiated claims that labor market reports were manipulated and blamed immigrants, the media and political opponents. Regarding the consequences of climate change, he said:
“Who cares?”
After about 90 minutes, he concluded his speech.
Sharp criticism of language that glorifies violence
In addition to the appearances, the campaign came to a head on Friday. As Harris arrived in Wisconsin, she reacted furiously to a statement from Trump in which he praised fellow Republican Liz Cheney and said she should have looked down with nine guns during a firefight. Tube–Harris believes this kind of rhetoric disqualifies anyone from serving as president. The White House also warned that such comments could be explosive.
But that didn't stop Trump from upping the ante with an appearance in Michigan. He claimed that Cheney did not have the courage to confront the enemy in actual combat. Instead, she sits in Washington and wants to start a war with other countries. He described Harris as the “candidate for endless war” and himself as the “candidate for peace.”
Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney and a supporter of Harris, has often been criticized for her interventionist foreign policy stance. However, observers emphasize that Trump himself ordered military action many times during his tenure.
US authorities warn of Russian interference
Meanwhile, concerns remain about possible Russian influence on the campaign. A video circulated on the X platform this week showed an alleged immigrant from Haiti allegedly voting multiple times in Georgia. U.S. security authorities said the video was fake and part of a Russian campaign aimed at raising doubts about the integrity of U.S. elections.
Since being acquired by tech billionaire Elon Musk, X (formerly Twitter) has taken less stringent action against misinformation. Musk appears to be a major supporter of Trump and supports him financially. The video, which has since been deleted, recounted Trump's account of alleged election fraud against immigrants – a topic he has spoken about frequently.
Supreme Court blocks Republican plan in Pennsylvania
Shortly over the weekend, the U.S. Supreme Court also addressed election integrity concerns and initially blocked Republicans' attempts to exclude certain votes from being counted in Pennsylvania – the most populous of the seven “swing states” states may be excluded. It plays a decisive role in the election results.
The decision means voters whose mail-in voting documents were rejected due to formal flaws can still vote in person using provisional ballots. This would have saved thousands of ballots, often belonging to Democratic voters, from invalidating. But there's a caveat: The Supreme Court rejected the Republicans' request, but can take up the matter again later. (Science and Technology Committee/Strategic Development Bureau/Political Department)
