The Zodiac Killer is one of the most famous serial killers in American history. Five murders were proven against him; he himself claimed to have committed 37 murders between 1966 and 1978. It's one of those cold cases that still makes you sweat 60 years later and baffles authorities and investigators. What's “special” about the Zodiac is that he plays with those who are hunting him by sending cryptic messages.

Zodiac was born in the late 1960s. Police investigation yielded a suspect: Arthur Leigh Allen. However, authorities were never able to gather conclusive evidence to send him to prison. Allen passed away in August 1992.

There is no evidence. there is nothing. Alan took his secrets to his grave. However, a handwritten letter was found on him stating that he was not the Zodiac Killer.

But Netflix's new documentary This Is the Zodiac is making waves again. The Seawater family voices their views in this three-part documentary. She has long been very close to the Allen family. David and Connie Siewert report on their adventures, rides, and activities with “Mr. Allen.”

hands covered with blood

Arthur Leigh Allen was a popular teacher known for dancing and singing in class to music such as Tom Dooley of the Kingston Trio and Gill The score to the Burt and Sullivan operetta “The Mikado”.

This burly man, behind his good nature, seemed to be playing a double game. Alan is not a model boy, especially when it comes to dealing with the salt water children. We later learned he drugged them when they were children.

In the documentary, Connie relives past memories, such as the day in 1963 when Allen was covered in blood on a beach in Tajguas, California. The children played alone and waited for everyone. He suddenly appeared and wanted to leave here immediately. The bodies of Robert Domingos and Linda Edwards were later found in the area. Old memories collide, and Connie says the double murder may have been committed by a former teacher.

The three episodes bring together a wealth of evidence that proves the investigators, especially Robert Graysmith, author of the Zodiac book that inspired David Fincher's film, were right about many of their questions. The retired news illustrator appeared in the documentary and vigorously defended his version of the story.

Because his description still exists, especially since the intervention of seawater. Those who believe Allen is the Zodiac Killer point out that the famous serial killer stopped murdering after his arrest on pedophilia charges in 1974. Allen spent three years in prison and then was put on probation for another five years until 1982.

Confession in 1992?

The play reaches its climax when David, the Seawater family's eldest son, picks up the phone to inquire about Alan's failing health. On the other end of the phone, David heard the confession of an overwhelmed man admitting that he abused his sister Connie. Stunned, David asked the man a crucial question:

“Mr. Allen, are you the Zodiac Killer?”

After a deathly silence and a sob, the documentary comes to an important moment, an emotional climax (for viewers with pounding hearts) when David is convinced that “Mr. Allen” has identified him as the Zodiac ). shock!

Why did they wait so long and why didn't they tell investigators? David assured that he had informed the authorities, but hit a brick wall: «[Die Polizei] Nothing can be done. “

David Fincher Returns to Demons from the Past

He then turned on his siblings, causing the family to break up. The debate continued until the release of David Fincher's film Zodiac (2007). A film that awakens old demons but reunites the Saltwater family.

Connie felt very uncomfortable while watching the movie:

“There's a lot in this movie that's both familiar and scary.”

All the places where murders took place are connected: David and Connie visit all of them with Ellen.

Don Seawater, the youngest sibling, said:

“There are too many familiar things to be a coincidence.”

Behind these secrets that have been hidden for many years is a mother who has remained silent. The matriarch who refuses any dialogue. She was close to Allen and her children suspected she was in cahoots with the so-called Zodiac Killer.

The mystery surrounding the killer's true identity: Has it been revealed? Netflix reminds us that the investigation is still ongoing.

This Is Zodiac is currently streaming on Netflix.
