The showdown between the two No. 1 picks in April's draft was a true spectacle, with the replacement for the injured Deshaun Watson shining and a number of rookies performing well. The biggest thing on Sunday in the NFL.

In extreme cases, pick 2 is better than pick 1

For a long time, it was unclear whether Jayden Daniels would be able to play after sustaining a rib injury last week. But on Sunday, it became clear: The 23-year-old quarterback for the Washington Commanders will take the field against the Chicago Bears. Thus, NFL fans were treated to the highly anticipated showdown between Daniels, the second overall pick in April's draft, and Caleb Williams, the No. 1 overall pick.

For a long time, it wasn't the spectacle we had hoped for. Bears quarterback Williams and his offense had issues heading into the game, but the defense also made life difficult for the generals. At halftime, host Washington scored three shots to make the score 9-0. But then the Bears turned the game around: After another field goal, running back DeAndre Swift ran 56 yards for a touchdown, and soon after the Bears were back in front of the opponent's end zone.

However, an attempt to convert O-liner Doug Kramer into a running back on short notice backfired. The handoff from Williams to Kramer was unsuccessful and the game ended with a fumble and Chicago scoreless. The Commanders' defense was tenacious and the Bears corrected their mistakes later. This time, veteran running back Roschon Johnson was tasked with carrying the ball into the end zone from one yard out. With 25 seconds left, Williams passed to Cole Kmet for the two-point conversion, giving Chicago a 15-12 lead.

One might think there isn't actually enough time for a touchdown and a turnaround. But Jayden Daniels did what he's been doing all season: He created a spectacle. He brought the team to the midfield line with two quick passes and launched a long pass from the midfield on the last play of the game. The so-called “Hail Mary” actually missed its target, but the ball bounced off a Bears defender and into the hands of play-calling receiver Noah Brown standing in the end zone, sealing the victory with 18 minutes and 15 seconds to go.

Washington won for the sixth time in Game 8, while Chicago suffered its third loss in Game 7 in the most dramatic fashion.

Creepy Gove makes lions roar

The Detroit Lions crushed the Tennessee Titans in 52 minutes and 14 seconds. It was the fifth win in a row and sixth in seven games this season. Lions quarterback Jared Goff's record is almost eerie: Over the past five games, he has completed 83 percent of his passes to teammates and has a passer rating of 146.5. This is based on various aspects of the passer's performance, with a maximum score of 158.3. No quarterback in NFL history has had better results through five games than the 30-year-old Goff.

The statistics are almost even crazier: Of Goff's 91 passes over the past five games, only 18 have failed to reach a teammate — a stretch in which the Lions offense has scored 24 touchdowns. Goff threw three touchdown passes against the Titans but didn't do much else. This was largely due to strong running back Jahmyr Gibbs (133 yards, 1 touchdown) and a strong defense, which forced four turnovers.

The Lions were so good that lauded offensive coordinator Ben Johnson pulled out his trick, having running back David Montgomery pull a pass to tight end Sam Sam LaPorta passed the ball for a touchdown.

Kalif Raymond ran more than 90 yards into the end zone after a Titans punt as Detroit went all out.

Rodgers' Jets lose hope

Now the New York Jets have also lost to the New England Patriots who had won six straight games. Although Aaron Rodgers performed well in the 22-25 loss, passing for 233 yards and two touchdowns, he once again failed to lead the team to victory – also due to a miss by kicker Greg Zuerlein A field goal and an extra point. The Jets currently have only two wins and six losses and have little chance of making the playoffs.

The visitors still led by five points until shortly before the end of the game, but Patriots running back Lamond Stevenson sprinted into the end zone for the second time with 22 seconds left. It wasn't long before the Jets' defeat was confirmed.

Watson replacement Winston shines

Last week, Deshaun Watson, who has been terrible since joining Cleveland, tore his Achilles tendon. Without him, the Browns managed just their second win in their eighth game of the season, and that came against the Baltimore Ravens, who have been outstanding of late under quarterback Lamar Jackson.

The main reason for the 29:24 win was the strong backup quarterback Jameis Winston. The 30-year-old is making “only” $4 million this year, more than $40 million less than Watson, and has thrown three touchdown passes and no interceptions. Winston's long pass to his best receiver, Cedric Tillman (99 yards, 2 TDs) against Baltimore, decided the game in the final minute against the Cleveland Browns The team is beneficial.

When asked about his attitude ahead of his first trip in nearly two years, Winston referenced rapper Eminem's song “Lose Yourself”: “You only get one chance. Don't miss this chance, 'cause this chance of a lifetime Only once.”

Chiefs remain undefeated

The Kansas City Chiefs remain undefeated in Game 7 and are therefore the only frontrunner in the NFL. 27:20 The win over the Las Vegas Raiders was one of the most convincing of the season – also because tight end Travis Kelce had his first of the season touchdowns and gained 90 yards. Taylor Swift's boyfriend has performed well in two of the past three games after a poor start to the season.

Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes also made significant improvements against Las Vegas compared to his last game. He threw two touchdown passes in the game but also had an interception. The 29-year-old has thrown at least one pass to an opponent in each of his seven games this season and has thrown nine interceptions, one more than he has thrown for a touchdown.

49ers exacerbate Cowboys crisis

Two struggling teams, the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys, meet on Monday night. Although the Niners now have a balanced record of four wins and four losses with the 30-24 win, the Cowboys' crisis continued to worsen as they suffered their fourth loss in Game 7.

Dallas' running game was once again extremely weak, and quarterback Dak Prescott, who almost solely shouldered the burden of Dallas' offense, once again made serious mistakes. For example, from the Cowboys' perspective, when the score was 10:13, Deommodore Lenoir made a brilliant catch of an interception. As a result, the 49ers scored two touchdowns to open the score and could no longer be caught up by Dallas.

More highlights

Bills rookie Coleman is getting better and better in the NFL. The receiver, who gained 125 yards without a touchdown last week, made this incredible one-handed catch in the end zone in Seattle's 31-10 victory.

Another rookie receiver, Rad McConkey (111 yards, 2 touchdowns), showed an outstanding performance. The 22-year-old from the Los Angeles Chargers had this highlight during a 26-8 victory over New Orleans:

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Cincinnati Bengals 37-17 thanks to three touchdowns from quarterback Jalen Hurts and a 46-yard pass to receiver DeVonta Smith ball:

The Colts are hoping Anthony Richardson has another bad day as he completes 10 passes on 32 attempts. However, he, along with receiver Josh Downs, produced one of the highlights in a narrow 20-23 win over Houston, although the initial touchdown was lost when Downs went down shortly before the touchdown. Canceled:

The Jacksonville Jaguars also narrowly defeated the Green Bay Packers 27:30 with a field goal at the end of the game. Meanwhile, Evan Engram's game-tying touchdown was definitely worth watching:
