Last week's Der Spiegel interview with Thomas Gottschalk caused quite a stir. Among other things, he stated that he only had contact with women on television “for work” and had no sexual interest in them. He had previously been asked about various moments he saw female guests on “Wetten, dass…?” Touching the knees.
He compares his job to “actors kissing in a movie because it's in the script.” He made it clear he wouldn't do it again today, but he didn't seem to regret his previous performance. Instead, it's clear from the interview that he sees himself as a victim. He stopped going into elevators alone with women for fear she would later make sexual harassment accusations.
Now, people like former porn actress Shaiden Rogue are bringing resistance. She addressed the topic in a video on Instagram.
The Reckoning of Shaiden Rogue and Thomas Gottschalk
The 23-year-old started by explaining that you actually have Thomas Gottschalk to thank. Because: “Over the years, he has shown us time and time again what money can’t buy. In Tommy's case, it's definitely emotional intelligence and self-reflection.»
His Der Spiegel interview was “extremely bad”. “Are we wrong about women?” asked Schadden Logue. Your clear answer is: no.
Then she singled out Gottschalk's previous female TV guests. The fact that the entertainer was criticized for her behavior years later was in itself a warning sign for her:
“I have also been exposed to people on a professional basis, but interestingly, there have never been accusations of harassment. This was despite me filming porn.”
Cynical advice to Thomas Gottschalk after the Der Spiegel interview
Shaiden Rogue said of the cult host, “It would be particularly sad if decades later, your mind is still immature and unable to recognize your mistakes.” He's been saying “the same crap” for 30 years.
She even gave him a suggestion: Thomas Gottschalk could dress up as a woman for Halloween. On his next talk show appearance, he could “report in a cocky way that he now knows how women feel.”
Finally, she suggested to him: “Maybe read a book.” Ironically, as we know, Thomas Gottschalk himself just wrote one. Not surprisingly, he simply no longer understands the younger generation.
Reactions on Twitter
The interview has caused a stir in recent days, especially on X/Twitter. Here are some of the tweets (with “evidence”) that circulated over the weekend.
The greatest victim of the hysterical turbine society of professionally angry permanent prosecutors was obviously the blameless Thomas Gottschalk. As if he wanted to! At the time, his ZDF contract forced him to approach women around the world without being asked!pic.twitter.com/ndz4LQb9XF
