Donald Trump's team is said to be working with Platform X owner Elon Musk to prevent the spread of critical reports about JD Vance. Reporter Ken Klippenstein's files are internal documents about JD Vance. It is said to have been stolen by Iranian hackers and then circulated.
According to reports from CNN and the Guardian, Klippenstein’s related posts are said to have been blocked by the X platform. The reason given was that the information linked there contained sensitive data about vice presidential candidate JD Vance. Other media outlets also had access to the documents but did not publish them. Klippenstein, on the other hand, wrote a related article on the Substack platform and linked to X.
Also contains sensitive information about Vance
The report, obtained by t-online, is said to contain internal communications from a senior Trump campaign staffer, as well as material the campaign gathered about Senator J.D. Vance before Trump named him as a candidate. The files released by Krippenstein also contain some personal information about Vance, including his home address and partial Social Security number.
Klippenstein's post was blocked after a person familiar with the matter told CNN on Friday that the Trump campaign had previously had conversations with X staffers about the hacked material. The New York Times also reported on this.
The Trump campaign contacted X to prevent links to the material from circulating on the platform, according to two people familiar with the matter. According to CNN, there are no clear requirements. A spokesman for X did not respond to CNN's request for comment.

“Millions of Americans like me rely on social media platforms like Platforms and their billionaire owners have concentrated enormous power,” Krippenstein wrote.
After the incident was exposed, his account was unblocked again. The controversial post has also resurfaced since Saturday night (local time). However, when you click the link, you will be warned that the page you are visiting may not be safe.
Krippenstein blames the media
Krippenstein also criticized the media for not reporting on the documents. “The media's decision not to report the contents of the dossier and its assessment of Vance was the result of government pressure and interference.” However, he did not provide any evidence of pressure from the U.S. government.
The American online magazine Politico explained its decision not to quote the newspaper to CNN. “Politico editors determined, based on what our reporters knew at the time, that the questions surrounding the origins of these documents and how they came to our attention were more newsworthy than the material contained in these documents,” a Politico spokesman said. Brad Desp. Forest. The Washington Post issued a similar statement. Clearly, this was a deliberate attempt to exploit the media, most likely the work of Iranian hackers.
Musk preaches the right to free speech — but not to critics?
Elon Musk, the head of X, is a supporter of Donald Trump. A few days ago, he appeared at a Trump event. Musk has repeatedly stressed that free speech is important to him and has unblocked accounts proven to be spreading false news. The fact that the account of one of Trump's critics has now been blocked casts doubt on Musk's intentions.
X officials explained the move, saying it violated guidelines. “Our policy does not allow content from hacked sources or leaked content from foreign government operations to influence U.S. elections,” a Meta spokesperson said, according to CNN.
“We will prevent such content from being distributed on our apps in accordance with our community standards.”
After the acquisition, Musk himself released documents, the so-called “Twitter docs,” aimed at demonstrating the impact of the Biden administration on the company. The accusation was later withdrawn by the company, which at the time was still trading as Twitter.
