Gladiator II Fans Staring at Sequel's Augmented Reality Popcorn Bucket: 'Where Can I Buy That?!'

Following the trend set by Toon: Part II and continuing with Deadpool & Wolverine, Gladiator II will feature a new epic popcorn bucket.

The Dune II popcorn bucket is modeled after one of the enormous sandworms from the movie. It went viral because it looked like a sex toy.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman had fun with their bucket of Deadpool & Wolverine popcorn with Wolverine's mouth open, which also drew comparisons to sex toys.

However, while this new Gladiator II cube (via Fandango) has some intriguing new technology, it won't have any X-rated connotations.

After fans eat all the popcorn inside, they can use new augmented reality (AR) technology to reveal a gladiator battle inside a real cube.

Fandango posted the first two images of the cube on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that the cube is designed to look like a gladiatorial arena in the film.

The image is titled 'Enter AR-My Popcorn Bucket' and refers to the AR technology used.

The second image offers a glimpse of what an AR battle would look like inside a bucket of popcorn, but his TikTok video offered a glimpse of an AR battle between two tiny combatants.

“Finish the popcorn and unleash the war within,” the announcer says, revealing what awaits them at the bottom of the cube: a QR code that fans can scan, “to bring the Colosseum to life.”

TMZ reports that the cubes will be available at Cinemark locations, while Paramount Pictures YouTube says they will be available at “other participating theater locations,” although no specific theater chains are mentioned.

Fans were horrified by the new popcorn bucket, while others thought it would spell doom for the film.
