Liam Payne received a special mention Saturday night when this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees were named in Cleveland, Ohio.
The former One Direction star died on Wednesday after falling from a third-story balcony in Buenos Aires at the age of 31.
While an investigation is underway into the events leading up to the incident, the British singer has been included in memorabilia at the annual event at the Rockets Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland.
A film of Payne's early days with One Direction was shown in the auditorium, prompting loud applause from those in attendance.
The singer died instantly after falling 45 feet from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room to the courtyard below at 5:04 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police found drugs in his room, including “crystal,” a powerful hallucinogen that causes blackouts and psychotic episodes.
A source told MailOnline: “Where did Liam get the drugs when there was no money?”
The source also revealed:
- Liam was “reworking” his favorite One Direction song, “Fireproof,” on his computer in the hours before his death.
- He was in Argentina to renew his US visa and a few days ago he passed medical and psychological tests that showed that he is “absolutely clean.”
- He was in “good spirits” and planned to return home to his girlfriend Kate Cassidy in Miami on Friday.
- Her last meal was her favorite chocolate chip cookies.
Multiple law enforcement sources said investigators believe someone at the hotel provided him with drugs.
There have been unconfirmed reports that the hotel conducted an internal investigation and fired at least one employee.
Payne arrived in Argentina on September 30 with his girlfriend Kate and his close friend Roger Norse.
The source said: “Liam's US visa expired and he had to leave the US to renew it, so he decided to go to Buenos Aires to see the Niall Horan show and get his new visa.”
But when Payne went to the U.S. embassy in Buenos Aires last week, he discovered that authorities had Googled him and he had spent several stints in drug and alcohol rehab.

Vigils were held around the world in the days following Payne's death. One was captured in Stockholm, Sweden, on Saturday.

Payne was initially in Argentina with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy (right), who would travel to the United States a few days before his death.
'I was ordered to have medical tests, see a doctor, have blood tests and x-rays, see a psychiatrist, and I did it all in the first week. Liam thought the trip would only last a few days, but he got stuck there because of all the ordeals.
After spending last weekend at a polo ranch outside Buenos Aires, his girlfriend Kate Cassidy flew back to Miami on Monday to look after the couple's dog, while Liam went to a Casasure hotel.
'He had no money, his credit cards didn't work, so he spent all his time in the room.
On Tuesday he ordered a McDonald's. He was happy and in a good mood.
“On Tuesday all the test results came back completely clear and on Thursday he made an appointment at the embassy to have the visa stamped in his passport and he will leave Argentina immediately.”
A family friend met him at 10:00 that morning to deliver his favorite “American-style” chocolate chip cookies to a bakery three blocks from the hotel.
He seemed a little drunk, like he'd been drinking, but not in a bad way. I was happy.

Dua Lipa began the evening with a performance of Believe, with Cher joining the pop star on stage to close out her 1998 smash hit, considered the first song to use Auto-Tune technology as an instrument.
“I changed the sound of music forever,” he said in his acceptance speech, a year after criticizing the Hall for not yet putting him on the ballot.
“It was easier to divorce two men than to get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” she joked Saturday night.
Kelly Clarkson, Sammi Hagar, Slash and Demi Lovato were among those who appeared in Foreigner.
A group of artists, including Queen Latifah, De La Soul and Busta Rhymes, also performed alongside the surviving members of the eclectic and pioneering hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest: Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White.
