Break out the hairspray and curlers: big hair is back | Fashion

YoIf you've been trying and failing for the last 10 years to make those loose, carefree, beachy waves, you can finally put down the clips, feed your butt, and call it a messy job. Hair changes. And it expands outward.

Long hair is back on the catwalk, with models sporting slicked-back hairstyles worthy of the oil barons' ball. But, says celebrity hairstylist Sam McKnight, who took inspiration for Vivienne Westwood's SS25 hair from Princess Michael of Kent and the 1980s Sloane Rangers, Fashion.

The new “Dynasty Hair” is strong, but very soft looking. Thanks to the explosion of DIY hair tutorials online, it's something that can be achieved very quickly at home. “It's not about a perfect, stiff blow-dry with lots of sections and a round brush,” McKnight told me after Fashion Week.

Your key to voluminous, modern hair is to blow-dry upwards to lift your roots (spray them first Hair by Sam McKnight Cool Girl Superlift volumizing spray£26), then hang large sections very clearly or place four to six large cylinders (it's best to warm it up, Velcro works well. My favorites) babelis£60, and kitsch£15 respectively), or skip it to go straight camping.

To do this at home, grab your hair near the roots, use a small brush or comb to gently comb it back, spray each section with hairspray, and blow dry.

Once ready, take a soft bristle brush and scrub the top, leaving it fluffy but not touching the guts. “The modern way is to use hairspray as a styling product, but instead of setting the finished hairstyle,” says McKnight. Multitasking Styling Mist with Modern Hairspray (£24) He goes.

Although this “easy” way to add volume is more than your paycheck, rolling your hair in giant rollers will give you more volume in the morning as the heat from your head shapes it. Believe me, I was skeptical. But a light mist like dry shampoo Batsite Nighttime Deep Cleaning (£4.25), one Satin Jumbo Flexible Rod by kitsch (£19 for four) One front twist, one back twist, one bottom twist and one on each side, wear it to sleep and give my fine, flat Barnett Major bounce for breakfast.
