Maya Hawke has been hired to narrate an audiobook of Joan Titian's 1968 book of essays, Slouching Towards Bethlehem.
The iconic literary endeavor of the late author, who died in 2021 at the age of 87, includes nonfiction works and Goodbye to Everyone Who Carries a Notebook.
In a statement shared with People magazine, the Stranger Things star, 26, said: “I have always been a big fan of Joan Didion's writing.
Many of the essays in Slouching Towards Bethlehem were written when she was in her twenties, and it was an incredible experience to spend so much time with her words and feel a sense of camaraderie almost sixty years later.
He added: “It is an honor to have the opportunity to narrate his masterpiece and introduce a new generation to his iconic prose.”

Pictured in October 2010, Tiziano died in 2021 at age 87 from complications of Parkinson's disease.
Hawke is considered the 'Napo Baby' as she is the daughter of famous parents Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman.
Her previous audiobook credits include Alexi Pappas' memoir Brave and James Ellroy's American Tabloid.
He also appeared as the voice of the character Anxiety in this year's animated sequel Inside Out 2.
Joan Tiziano is known for her provocative social commentary and measured literary voice.
Titian was one of the country's worst writers and astute observers. His best-selling fiction, commentary and memoirs have won numerous awards and are considered modern classics,” his publisher Penguin Random House said in a statement at the time of his death.
Macmillan Audio will publish an audiobook version of Slouching Toward Bethlehem on November 5.
Before the release date, it will be available for pre-order.
In an interview published by The Times in June, Hawke admitted that she feels comfortable socializing with other children of Hollywood stars.

“There are a lot of people who deserve to have this kind of life, but I don't deserve it and I think I'm comfortable doing it anyway,” the New York City native explained. I know it won't help anyone if I don't.
He added: “When I started I saw two paths, one of which was: change your name, get a nose job and cast for roles.”
The budding actress and singer said: “It's okay to joke when you're in thin air.” It's a lucky place.
“My relationships with my parents are really honest and positive and that trumps anything anyone can say about it.”
