Big Meech's empire collapsed after he was arrested in 2005 and sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2008 after the Drug Enforcement Administration took over his drug trafficking operation following a years-long investigation.
Her son, Demetrius Jr., who she shares with beautician Laterra Yutzi, was five years old at the time.
But he was fiercely loyal to his father, and as he grew up, Big Meech trusted him to make sure his story was told correctly to the world.
Despite having no prior acting experience, Demetrius Jr. was highly regarded when the show premiered in 2021 and is now a huge star with his impressive portrayal of a drug-dealing father.
Demetrius Jr.'s first passion is music and in 2019 he released a successful debut single, Bad Habits.
But after a call from his father in prison and encouragement from acclaimed rapper 50 Cent, he focused on acting.
Demetrius Jr. previously explained to the New York Post that his father told him during the call that the hip-hop artist was planning to turn his story into a show and asked him to participate to give him updates on how everything was going.
Demetrius Jr. later approached 50 Cent and they struck up a friendship.

As the musician struggled to find someone to play Big Meech on the show, it suddenly hit him: Demetrius Jr. was the perfect person.
Shortly after, Demetrius Jr., who was studying business at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, dropped out of school and moved to Los Angeles, where he began taking acting classes.
But in the early 2000s, federal agents determined that the company was a front for a national cocaine trafficking and money laundering scheme, and he was arrested in 2005.
“At first it seemed crazy to me, I had never acted before,” he told the publication. “I was actually in business school at UNLV in Las Vegas.
'[Now] Act for life. I feel like I have found my calling. So, 50 Cent basically brought acting to me. He is the reason I act.
“He helped me get the role, but I had to earn it and show it to the network. [that I was the right choice].'
He said he took acting classes five days a week for two years before filming began. At first, his father was very involved in the process.
Demetrius Jr. told the Post that they talk on the phone every day so his father can give him “guts” to play.
'It gave me insight and told me what his mood was at the time. “I don't know much about his childhood and how he grew up,” he explained.
I don't understand how poor he is and the decisions he has to make. At 15 or 16 years old he thought he wanted to be a man.
