7 Recipes to Reuse Leftovers

Knowing how to prepare recipes for reusing leftover food – which is still ready to eat – is essential in the kitchen. Benefits of this practice include reduced waste, saving money and more opportunities to explore new production methods! All these principles are incorporated in this proposal World Food Day!

World Food Day is observed on 16 October and was created in 1981 by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This date is the perfect opportunity to reflect and raise awareness on nutrition and food related topics within the home. community, across the country and even globally.

Materials Required:

  • 3 and 1/2 cups (tea) of cooked white or brown rice
  • 1 Ovo
  • 1/2 cup (tea) dipped in breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 1 clove of minced garlic
  • 50 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt, black pepper and chopped green chillies to taste
  • Oil for ghee

Preparation method:

  1. In a bowl, mash the rice grains with a fork.
  2. Mix the egg, breadcrumbs, mozzarella, onion, garlic, dates, salt, pepper, and green chilies.
  3. Divide the dough into 6 portions and shape into burgers.
  4. Heat an oiled non-stick frying pan over medium heat and brown for 3 minutes on each side.
  5. Serve with your choice of bread, salad and sauce, if desired.

Materials Required:

  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 cup chopped green beans
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 cups cooked white rice
  • 1 can drained green corn
  • 1 cup light cream cheese
  • 2 diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese

Preparation method:

  1. In a saucepan, over medium heat, cook carrots, green beans and broccoli in boiling salted water until al dente.
  2. Strain and pour into a bowl.
  3. Add rice, corn, curd and mix.
  4. Pour into a medium oven dish, cover with tomato slices and sprinkle with cheese.
  5. Place in high, preheated oven for 10 minutes or until browned.
  6. Then serve.

Materials Required:

  • 1 cup diced pork
  • 2 slices of thin pepperoni sausage, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Rib Gravy 1 cube
  • 500g Carioca beans cooked with broth
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped chives for sprinkling

Preparation method:

  1. In a pan, over medium heat, fry the pork and Calabrian sausage until all the fat has been released and it is slightly brown.
  2. Add garlic, onion and bay leaves and saute for another 3 minutes.
  3. Add the rib broth and carioca beans.
  4. Add salt to taste and cook on low heat for 10 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle with chives and serve immediately.

Materials Required:

  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 chopped seedless tomato
  • 500 grams of beef
  • 1 envelope of powdered meat broth
  • 1/2 cup chopped green olives
  • Wheat flour 1 tsp
  • Salt, black pepper and chopped parsley to taste
  • 4 French loaves, cut in half lengthwise
  • 150 grams of grated mozzarella cheese

Preparation method:

  1. In a pan, heat oil on medium flame and saute onion and garlic for 3 minutes.
  2. Add tomatoes and saute for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the meat, broth, and olives and sauté for 5 minutes or until dry.
  4. Sprinkle in the flour and stir until slightly thickened.
  5. Season with salt, pepper and chopped parsley. Let cool.
  6. Divide the meat between the halves of the bread without slices and place them in a pan one after the other.
  7. Sprinkle over the mozzarella and bake in a preheated medium oven for 15 minutes or until browned.
  8. Remove and serve immediately.

Materials Required:

  • 1/2 bunch of spinach, washed
  • 1/2 bunch arugula, washed
  • 2 cups cooked and shredded meat
  • 1 cup chopped olives
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes (halved)

Salad dressing

  • 1 clove of minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup (tea) cottage cheese
  • 2 tablespoons of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Preparation method:

  1. For the sauce, mix the garlic, cheese, milk, olive oil, salt and pepper in a bowl. book.
  2. In a large salad bowl, arrange the lettuce and arugula leaves and spread the shredded meat, olives, onions and cherry tomatoes on top.
  3. Drizzle with the sauce and serve.

Materials Required:

  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • 4 tsp of minced onion
  • 1 kg cooked and shredded chicken fillet
  • Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp
  • Brandy 2 tsp
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 can of cream

Preparation method:

  1. In a pan, over medium heat, add oil and saute onion and chicken.
  2. Add Worcestershire sauce.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and add the brandy.
  4. Return to the heat, being careful not to catch the brandy on fire.
  5. Add the ketchup and mushrooms, add salt and wait for it to boil and turn off the heat.
  6. Add cream and then serve with rice and straw potatoes.

  • 600 grams of unpeeled potatoes
  • 500g cooked and shredded white fish
  • 2 eggs
  • Wheat flour 1 tsp
  • 4 tablespoons of corn flour
  • 1/2 chopped onion
  • 1 clove of minced garlic
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Pepper jelly

  • 1 cup (tea) of sugar
  • 3 chopped chillies, seedless
  • 1 cup (tea) of orange juice
  • 1 unpeeled apple

Preparation method:

  1. For the jelly, in a saucepan, combine the sugar, pepper, orange juice, and apples and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes or until it thickens and reaches the jelly point.
  2. Transfer to an emulsion boat and let it cool.
  3. Cook the potatoes in a pot of water until soft.
  4. Drain and pass through a juicer while hot.
  5. Pour into a bowl and mix together the fish, eggs, flour, cornstarch, onion, garlic, salt and pepper.
  6. Make balls with your hands and fry little by little in hot oil until golden brown.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve with jelly.
