Billy Shepard breaks down in tears over his stepfather's battle with alcoholism during the new series of The Family Diaries.

The TV personality, 34, revealed that her stepfather, Dave Chatwood, has checked out of rehab and is now living with her, Greg, and their children.

In new footage from the show, Billie can be seen crying with her head in her hands as she tries to come to grips with Dave's problems.

In one scene, Billy's mother Susie Wells tells her: 'He said this… Ah, I thought this was it. I've had enough'.

Billie's husband Greg Shepard can be seen telling Dave, 'You need to go to the hospital, mate.'

In new footage from the show, Billy can be seen crying with his head in his hands as he tries to come to grips with Dave's problems.

'I'm not going to the hospital anymore!' Dave answers.

Then, in a statement that seems shocking to Billy, he adds: 'There are about twenty geysers after me.'

In an interview ahead of the seventh series on the ITV show, Billy said his father was now sober and his journey to recovery was a 'special' storyline.

He explained: 'It's something we've followed in the last two series, but this series is very special because we'll be celebrating his sobriety.

'Obviously, there are always ups and downs, which perfectly reflects all the journeys with Dad and what we've all done to get him to where he is now.

'I think we are open and honest with ourselves. It really is our life and what you see is what you get.'

Giving a further update on her step-dad, she added: 'Dad is doing amazing, he's out of rehab. He has been staying at our house for the past two weeks.

'He's very cool and adamant he's not going to drink anymore, he feels amazing and says it's completely changed his life and saved his life – which is definitely true.'

Giving a further update on her step-dad, she added: 'Dad is doing amazing, he's out of rehab. He has been staying at our house for the past two weeks.

When it comes to filming private moments like this, she explained: 'As I said before, I think the point of a reality show is realism, and we've had so much support and love, and dad shows his journey so soberly. .

'I don't think it would be real if we didn't show the tough, sad moments, because when you're trying to help someone in that situation as a family, it's very difficult.

'Showing rawness – I think a lot of people in those situations can relate to that. It's not like he's ever really hit rock bottom, and now all of a sudden, he's great, it's been a real journey and it's included real low moments.

Billie and her sister Sam previously spoke about their concerns about their stepfather's health on their ITVBe show Billie & Greg: The Family Diaries.

After talking to the doctor, Dave told Billy that if he did what he was doing, he had about 15 months left.

Billy explained at the time: 'Dad's liver results were abnormal and after he told the doctors he was drinking too much every day, the doctor was worried because they thought his health might be at risk. '

Sam and his sister Billie have previously spoken about their worries about their stepfather's health on their ITVBe show Billie & Greg: The Family Diaries.

Speaking to his mum Suzi, Billy admitted: 'A bit of time with Dad at the minute is like banging your head against a brick wall because nothing's really going to change at the moment.'

Susie then added: 'I mean, I know he'll never stop straight away, but if he doesn't calm down. You know, he'll be lucky for one more year.

Billy continued: 'I think Nellie and Arthur are getting a bit old now. It's almost becoming harder and harder to hide it or hide it from them.'

She added: 'You know, he has an addiction. Isn't it a disease?' Suzy replied: 'It is.'

'Unless he really wants to try and help improve himself, at this point, I don't feel like he does. So what can we do? We must carry on as always,' said Billy.

Billie and Greg, who share three children Nellie, 10, Arthur, seven and Margot, 21 months, have grown up on reality TV since birth.

Their eldest daughter Nelly made her television debut in 2014 at the age of seven in The Only Way Is Essex.

Like Nellie, Arthur appeared on screen shortly after his birth when Billy and sister Sam had their joint series The Mummy Diaries.

Billie and Greg, who share three children Nellie, 10, Arthur, seven and Margot, 21 months, have grown up on reality TV since birth.

The couple, who regularly share intimate details of their family life on their hit show, have bagged the series to 'let their kids grow up away from the cameras'.

Since Sam left the series in 2021, Billy and Greg have continued to flaunt their glamorous lives on their own show – where baby daughter Margot was introduced.

A source told The Sun: 'Billy loved her time on the show and had a lot of fun, but she thinks it's time she let her kids grow up away from the cameras.

'She adores the memories she has made and will treasure them forever, she is very grateful to the production company but is excited to explore new options with ITV.

'No bad blood, the sky's the limit.'

An ITV spokesperson said: 'We are currently producing a new series of The Family Diaries, which will air on ITVX and ITVBe later this year, and are in talks with Billy about plans for 2025.'
