Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy posted a six-minute tirade on social media in which he blasted Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her “the worst presidential candidate in the history of American politics.”
“I'm tired of looking at her like she's some great, multi-millionaire candidate,” he said in Sunday's video.
“Look at the world stage. Afghanistan was a disaster, the Middle East is basically on fire, and you have Russia,” Portnoy said. “Then at home, inflation is out of control, people are burning American flags in the streets… law and order no longer seems to matter, we have a border, immigration.”
Portnoy – who has an estimated net worth of around $150 million according to Celebrity Net Worth – built his fortune by selling his media company Barstool Sports for $551 million in 2023 and repurchasing it later that year for just $1.
Barstool started as a print publication out of Boston and has since grown into a social media empire.
“Every now and then I get so fed up with politics that I have to go on a tirade and just leave it alone. I try not to do it, but I've reached a boiling point,” Portnoy said in his video.
“It's a scam the left is playing with Kamala Harris, making it seem like she's some great, groundbreaking candidate,” he said. “She is the worst candidate to ever run for president.”
“El Presidente,” as Portnoy calls himself, was a “huge fan” of former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley during her presidential campaign.
Since Haley dropped out of the race in March, she has expressed her support for former President Donald Trump. Although Portnoy complained about Harris in his video, he prefaced that he didn't like celebrity endorsements.
The business tycoon argued that there are only two types of voters in the 2024 presidential election: those who vote for Trump and those who “hate” Trump and vote against him.
Americans who vote for Harris “are voting against him (Trump) because you hate his guts and you would vote for a potato or a head of lettuce or whatever,” Portnoy said.
One of Portnoy's biggest criticisms of Harris is that she is campaigning as a change candidate.
At multiple rallies, Harris told crowds that “it was time to turn the page.”
“This is the sitting vice president of the United States who claims to be a change candidate,” Portnoy said.
He argued that Harris “must” present herself as a change candidate because most people agree that the last four years under President Joe Biden have been a “disaster.”
Portnoy also sharply criticized Harris' recent media onslaught, including appearances on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” and “The View.”
“She's asked the simplest questions, the softballs that she probably knew were coming,” he said.
For example, he said, Harris was asked on several talk shows how her presidency would be different from Biden's.
“She can't answer!” Portnoy exclaimed. “Kamala Harris can't even answer the easiest questions of all time. She never gives a straight answer. He can't seem to gather coherent thoughts.
