What is Menopause?

Menopause is when a woman stops menstruating and cannot conceive naturally.

It usually happens between the ages of 45 and 55.

It is a normal part of aging and is caused by a decrease in the level of the sex hormone estrogen.

Some women go through this time with few symptoms.

Others suffer from hot flushes, difficulty sleeping, mood swings, and brain fog that can last months or years and may change over time.

HRT replaces hormones and is the main treatment used to treat symptoms – which can be severe and disrupt daily life.

Menopause occurs when your ovaries stop producing the hormone estrogen and stop releasing an egg each month.

Gabby revealed that she had always had healthy sex with Kenny and always liked him, but she couldn't understand why she didn't want to have sex with him.

But after starting hormone therapy she added: 'My libido was back within a week and our sex life was back on track – even daytime sex. Our children will kill me if I say more!

The couple hit another hurdle in 2022 when Kenny was diagnosed with prostate cancer that required surgery.

Along with her worries about her husband, the star was battling empty-nest syndrome and took up entertainment to help her transition to life without her children at home.

Gaby often goes swimming in the cold water and finds that this process helps relieve her menstrual symptoms.

She told the newspaper that many women don't realize that the sun affects physical and mental health, including heart health and osteoporosis, and that exercise is a good way to combat those issues.

The presenter encouraged other women to read up on menopause before going through the shock, adding that nothing can prepare you for the real experience.
